I agree with most of what you say above. Communication is terrible. No return emails, voicemails, no one picks up the phone regularly, overpromise & underd deliver with wrong information, etc.

Problem is there really are no alternatives if you want this level of performance from an EV.

Tesla can get away with the poor buying experience for now and likely the next year or so. I think they'd sell a lot more cars is they improved the buying experience though. Non early adopters likely won't settle through the process like early adopters will.

Ordered a P3D+ with FSD; Red with white interior, on March 17th. Got VIN on May 7th. Since I live in Texas, had to pay off 100% before car is shipped - very powerful Auto Dealers Association controlling politicians in Austin! Anyway, payoff was done in less than 24 hours. Got confirmation that Tesla received payment and they were "officially handing over my delivery to local SC". Called Tesla and they were able to track my car to "somewhere near Amarillo" using GPS. Website said delivery 2 weeks out. Hopefully it will get here faster. Total time elapsed so far - about 8 weeks!! Hoping it has HW3.0 and I am eligible for the tax credit.

UPDATE: Good news! My P3D arrived this week and she is a beauty! Got a call on Monday from Tesla that my car had arrived in Houston over the weekend and would it be okay to deliver the car to my home on Tuesday 14th? Well duh!? The delivery guy came in my car at the exact time promised - no delays. The car was in immaculate condition. I did a thorough inspection and couldn't find any defects!! It even had the spoiler and Dual Motor badge. The milage on the car was 51 when I took possession. The delivery guy called an Uber and took off.

Amazing! A good ending after a torturous 2 month long wait with no communications.

Congrats and enjoy! 51 miles seems like a lot; I’m scared of doing home delivery as I feel the cars arrive with considerably more mileage during home delivery instead of the car getting picked up at delivery center. Did they tell you the exact mileage when you spoke regarding home delivery?

From what I heard at least the service after purchase is pretty good.

Would be horrible if the resources are allocated the other way around.

This behavior will continue right through the Y series unless something serious happens.

I am surprised to read about the poor experiences. Mine has been the opposite, so far. After I placed the deposit, I reached out to the associate with whom I had spent most of my time about the problem on the site. The site wouldn't let me pick home delivery. On the same day as I sent my email, he had gotten me hooked up with a different associate who Tesla has assigned to me, as well as my delivery specialist. I was told I was ineligible because I was within 250 miles of a dealer. I replied and showed him the link that Tesla's policy was 160 miles. He said he'd check.

Next day, I have a different delivery specialist, and I'm good to go with home delivery. And by the way, here's your VIN (was not on the account page). Went to my account and finished filling it out for home delivery. Again, it was all fixed online at the same time as the e-mail correspondence.

Anyway, got all the trade in and other stuff sorted. Financing cause one hiccup. I got pre-approved through my credit union. They have always had the best rates, and it was better than Tesla's published rate, so I went wiht it. And then found lower rates. Applied through USAA. Missed a disclaimer with them that to get the lowest rate, I had to buy through them. So then I tried a third, and about that time, Tesla was ready to move to set up with delivery. They sent me an MPVA with the wrong info on it. I also decided to finance about $10,000 less than original, so I had to change (noting that the site wouldn't let me pay more than the initial MVPA showed as my balance). I stalled while I waited for the third place to respond (they didn't get back right away, probably because I had my credit report run 3 times in less than a week, and declined), then had to get back to Tesla. At any rate, Tesla requested it be done within 72 hours, and I was on the third day when I decided to go ahead since I didn't think the third place would approve.

Sent my delivery specialist an e-mail asking what to do. He was out of the office for a few days, so I called the number. Within an hour, the person to whom I was routed in the Nashville office had changed the MVPA both with the lien holder, and the amount financed. SO I went back online, paid the $10,010.00 balance, and sent her teh deal sheet thing from USAA. Boom, done.

If anything, I have been the pain in the butt, and the one to take a few days to respond. Every time I have contacted anyone at Tesla, I have gotten a very, very prompt response. Be it on the phone or through e-mail.

By the way.......have any of you ever ordered a new car through another marque before? They are much more typically 8 weeks (have no idea about imported cars, never checked on that, but I imagine it takes a lot longer). Amazing folks are agitated that it takes 4 weeks.

I've read a couple posts about people waiting but the real problem isn't waiting but the wrong information given to buyers. Timeline is the timeline as long as the information given out is accurate.

I didn't expect my car until June but I get information from Tesla saying I can get my car 5/4. Car didn't get to my SC until 5/13. I had to reschedule delivery 3 times at the last minute each time. This is the problem. Don't tell me 5/4. Connect with me when you guarantee I can come get the car.

I got my car. I absolutely love it. Once I got to the SC everyone was helpful and wanted to ensure I had a good experience. It's the process that leads up to getting to the SC that needs to be improved.

I feel like I've complained a lot so I'm going to stop posting negative feedback. Improvements can be made and I hope by the next time I purchase a Tesla things are better. After all that's why I share my feedback. I want things to improve. The cars are great. I love my M3P.

I ordered a P3D blue with black interior two days ago. It was an inventory vehicle. Anyways, I went to tesla showroom to find out the status and they said my car is in route to CHINA. No one there has no idea what to do!!.. I got a good incentive on the car. So, i purchased an inventory. Now, tesla rep is saying they might cancel the order. I am really pissed off..

Any suggestions what I can do. I really want the discounted inventory vehicle.

Performance Model 3, Red Exterior, White Interior, FSD.

So I did receive my car on Friday May 17th on day 84 since ordering. It wasn't without issue though. The day before they were trying to cancel the delivery due to the BC credit drying up temporarily. I was so determined I said just keep the date (I was going to buy it anyway just to end this journey) and fortunately I did because late that night it did get topped up so I already had my appointment for first thing that day. I arrived a half an hour early for my 10 am appointment (after making the journey starting at 6am to get there from Victoria) and they were not open yet. I waited around and noticed there weren't any red ones on the lot. 10am comes and they open up to tell me the car isn't there (I swear these people are trying to kill me) it's at somewhere near by and they have just managed to notice a paint defect that they can fix by noon. 2 hours. Or they we can schedule a visit to a body shop in Victoria at a later date. We had plenty of plans and eventually a ferry to catch so I decide to look at it. They had it brought over. Felt a lot better once it was finally physically in front of me. I looked it over, and decided to have it fixed later (we'll see how bad of an idea that was) I also noticed a couple of other things and they fixed two of them right then and there while I did paperwork and he made a note of the other things. They tried to not give me the Nema 14-50 adapter, and the phone cords, but I insisted they follow what my Delivery Specialist had said previously and they caved. I'm still annoyed though that with everything that's happened that they kind of dick people around. I screwed up and did leave with a copy of the contract with his notes though. I emailed later and asked for a copy but I haven't gotten a reply yet. It is a long weekend though... So now I drive away.

I've got to say all of the pain of the last 84 days starts to fade from memory pretty quick once I drive it. It's unbelievable. Simply the greatest machine I've ever been at the control of. A beast beyond compare in my life. Complete and utter excess of power dwarfing every prior experience I've had.

Now I wish it would get an update cause it's still on 2019.7 and I want Sentry Mode before Tuesday when I go back to work and have to park it down town.

I’m glad you got yours! I’m scheduled for delivery in 2 weeks but I’m 90% sure the car will be nearby in a couple of days!! Red/Wi

Well well well, what do we have here.

Ooops I forgot to say which car 895 11.67. I should be a shame. Specially because this is what I do as my hobby. I was bracketing racing. The competing car was AUDI RS7+ I basically won the race on a hole shot, meaning I reacted faster than he did at the start and carried that lead thru the run. He was a good sport about the lost and asked to do it again. But we never got to run again that day. I went undefeated all night until a heavily modified hellcat on a nice tire came up. Even him, I lost by a half car. Ran 11.7 to his 11.59. All in all. I know I can get another 1-2 tenths out of it with full charge and lighter wheels for sure. If I had to guess, my 0-60 had to be closer to 3.0-3.1 with the 60ft I cut.

We have a race ticket with no indication if you were left or right.

I would guess right.

Well, yeah. The 122 MPH from the other car makes it a dead give-away which one is the model 3.

I have to learn how to read those things. It doesn't make sense to me... It looks like a 1/4 mile race where the car that took 11.678 defeated the car that did it in 11.472. What?

The ET (elapsed time) at the bottom is precisely how long each car took to go 1/4 mile. But it doesn't tell you anything about when each car left the starting line. One car could leave 5 seconds after the other car, and they may both travel a 1/4 mile in exactly 11 seconds. Which one wins (better read as "which one crosses the finish line first") ? Well, clearly the one that left 5 seconds earlier. This "who left first" is referred to as the "reaction time." His thumb is covering this, but it's the first line showing .779 vs .376. A built in "advantage" of four tenths of a second!

So, in this case, the tesla won the race, but only because his reaction time was considerably better.

Still an impressive time no matter how you look at it.
