My trade in has been saying Pending since I submitted the order. It keeps saying its waiting for the payoff.
My trade in status stayed that way until the day before delivery when they finally called the credit union that the trade in was financed through and got the pay off.

This kinda screwed up the whole financing paper work thing, as the credit union I was going through wanted to have a final Purchase Agreement, and Tesla couldn't provide them with that until they had both the pay off of the trade in and the trade in vehicle's value put onto the Purchase Agreement.

You might need to call them up and poke them on this, as they can be notoriously slow. They (obviously) can't get a payoff until you have a delivery date scheduled, but they are really bad about completing this in a timely manner. Just let your financing institution know that it's a known quirk when buying a Tesla, and to be patient about getting a complete and accurate Purchase Agreement.

Thanks for chiming in with your experience. Makes me feel a little better that this isn't what the hold up is for my VIN. I'll make sure to reach out to them when I get a VIN/delivery date so I can make sure they get the payoff in a timely manner.

Here are some not so great photos I grabbed in the garage m3 paint

There are some nibs on the underside of the frunk.

Thank you for the pictures and your thoughts. Looks like you got good coverage around the hinges and in the door sills, which has been a problem in the past.

Can only hope they have updated their paint process for the better. My car comes in a week or so, I’ll also update the thread.

Should I be a little concerned? I just sorted the list and every east coast person (Im in MD) with my build got their VIN yesterday or before. I only see one other person in GA that hasn't updated the list yet so its possible he hasn't gotten his either. For those of you that got VIN's yesterday did any of you have a trade in? My trade in has been saying Pending since I submitted the order. It keeps saying its waiting for the payoff.
I was looking the list over this morning and noticed you still didn't have anything yet- Seems strange since you ordered before me. I don't have a trade- I sold it myself last week and have been rockin' a rental. Have you reached out to your SA yet? Could it be something that you haven't completed under your account yet? --Just throwing things out there bc it does seem odd. Who is your SA?

I have no clue who my SA is. I ordered the car online and thats all thats happened so far. Nobody has ever reached out to me. My account has check marks for everything except for the trade in. I called my delivery location a week or so ago and asked if they needed anything else and they said everything looked good.

Oh and by the way, looking at your screenname. My trade in is a MK7 Golf R :)

Same situation as you. 8/20 white/white P3D ordered online. Trade has everything completed except final trade value and payoff (which is zero, but can't find a spot to input that). Not close to a Tesla center, so I don't have any sort of contact. Also doing home delivery, so the next closest center will have nothing to do with the transaction. I placed a call in late August to Tesla and they said the "Inside Sales Team" will be handling my deal, so I wouldn't even be able to guess who I talk to proactively prior to them reaching out to me. On a bit of an island, so I'm in a holding pattern until they reach out, I guess.

@cgarcia0458 that helped!

Wow... Tesla service at its finest
  • Called 888 51 TESLA # and hit the proper option, quick hold then transferred to Marina Del Rey delivery center voicemail. Hung up. My delivery is in Burbank.
  • Asked question here at TMC
  • Called Burbank delivery/service center, sales option, and got a gentleman immediately who transferred me to support.
  • 45 minutes on hold to reach support. Then they say they can't make the change, let me transfer you to sales.
  • On hold for sales for 10 minutes to get a Marina Del Rey voicemail box. (My car delivery is Burbank) Hung up.
This is where the sales option for the main 888 # ended up as well once I entered my zip
  • Called back Burbank deliver/service center, asked what gives - pretty sure same guy I talked to an hour prior. Incorrectly transferred to service at Burbank. (it's a Monday, and I don't fault the guy)
  • Called back, same guy, said sorry and transferred again to support as he said they should absolutely be able to make the change.
  • Another 25 minutes on hold
  • Finally reached someone, made the change in 2 minutes, said I'd get an email confirmation later today.
Harrowing!

My god. So after all this nonsense above, nothing changed. I happened to chat up support who transferred me to sales chat. They were able to pull the financing/credit app and make the edit design button appear. I guess once your credit application is submitted you are locked into a config. Regardless it finally got fixed and didn't take but a few minutes. I was able to manually change the design.

I'm not going to be happy if they double ding my credit with two hard inquiries. It's Tesla so that's a 50/50

That's what

You should ask them to honor your original agreement since they're at fault for all of this, I did the same thing and I explained that it is not my fault they are behind in production and I shouldn't have to submit a new credit app.

At least you got a text ... LOL. I've literally been through same experience as you. Just

What are you talking about? I ordered a P3D+ on 8/7 and received zero updates so far. Looking at October delivery now.

From the survey we should start seeing our VINs in the Bay Area after you since you are next in line with your 8/7 Performance order.

My rep said mine will be done 9/11-9/13 with delivery latest 9/15. Have you tried calling (888) 518-3752

Minor update here, but I noticed today that my VIN number is actually showing up on my "Manage" page. (I first saw it in the page source 4 days ago, but it was NOT visible on the page at that time.) Recap of my order history so far -
  • Aug. 8 = DAY 0 = ordered white/white performance Model 3 online; I live in Marietta, Georgia
  • Aug. 13 = DAY 5 = first contact from my Tesla "delivery specialist" via email
  • Aug. 24 = DAY 16 = got SMS text message, advising 3-4 more weeks before delivery will be scheduled
  • Sept. 8 = DAY 31 = got SMS text message, I can schedule delivery (earliest date Sept. 17)
  • Sept. 8 = DAY 31 = VIN visible in page source, but not on page itself
  • Sept. 11 = DAY 34 = VIN visible on page
My delivery is scheduled for Sept. 17 (day 40).
