I'm done, cancelled my order. Order date was 07/22, and I am getting zero info. I thought Tesla was different, but they are equally as full of *sugar* as every other car company. "approximately 2 weeks". Whatever.
Did they give you any flac for the $2500 deposit? I thought I saw somewhere it was non-refundable. I'm trying to piece together how they are optimizing the deliveries. I think a lot of it has to do with color/options and what is currently being run down the line. It sounds like maybe you ordered right at the end of your configuration's rotation. I think the rest of the effort goes into staging the cars out such that they can make a big push to get them delivered with the help of existing personnel at the end of the quarter. Everyone basically gets paid OT to become full time deliverymen and get as many cars out as they can as a F U to the wall street shorts. Just my uneducated guess/speculation.

Have you called into the delivery center to get an update? Sounds like maybe your cell phone # got transposed perhaps?

They contacted me two ways so far. A SA text'd me on 8/12 confirming my order, so they have my number right. A delivery specialist emailed me soon after about completing the payment portion of the order and input the name of the 3rd party lender. He couldn't provide a timeline when I followed up.

As there is a small grille for the pedestrian speaker - couldn't one just get some attractive black tape and tape over it? I figure this would tone down the volume substantially but not disable the feature entirely.

I do this to my young kids toys all the time, because they are ridiculously loud for small children.

@judePIT

I love low tech solutions! So I guess this is the "easy" fix? Keeps everyone happy - drivers and pedestrians.

I just ordered some matte black vinyl for $10 on Amazon so I can make custom covers with my wife's Cricut.
Bet you could pull that plastic cover down, put some acoustic foam between the speaker and the grill, and take that sound to 0 without tampering with wires. Maybe even keep water out?

A good article today on the logistics of our deliveries:

Currently, Tesla’s custom-ordered vehicles often don’t move from the factory until they schedule a delivery date with the customer, which is not always as easy as you would think.

According to people on the call, Musk told employees this week that starting next quarter, Tesla will put the vehicles in transit right away and deliver them to local delivery centers for the customers to pick them up at their convenience.

Tesla is spending a lot of manhours trying to coordinate customer deliveries and it is backing up inventory at the Fremont factory.

Musk wants a constant flow of vehicles going to the end destinations and compare the logistics to Amazon.

The CEO said:

“Amazon would go bankrupt if they would have to wait for customers to be ready to take delivery before shipping.”

Happy to report that after a long 47 days of waiting, I was finally able to take delivery of my new Red/White Performance M3 with FSD.

We asked about the 2 years of free supercharging and after the manager checked he said he could add it right then. We then asked about the deviation discounts and he said he could only do one or the other. Since we don't really supercharge much with my wife's M3, this was an easy decision. In the end I was able to get the paint and interior waived. They even let me keep my original pricing for the performance model which was before they raised the price in August.

Painful wait time. Fortunate timing and savings in the end. Good luck, friends.

Wow, this was at the delivery center? I am getting zero luck getting anything added to my account, and I haven’t taken delivery yet. Ordered 7/31.

here is a youtube video showing it... going to have to get this removed somehow... I am sure Tesla will make it difficult but maybe with a resistor or something we can get rid of the speaker.

here is a video showing where the speaker is and how easy/difficult it is to get to it

This sounds too loud to be direct microphone recording of the car without any other white noise or surrounding noises. If so, man I would hate the real sound and cut that speaker out.
