Performance Waiting Room

I ordered the M3P black on black on 10/15. The next day my account showed the gray wheels. The SA called to inform me that it would be 6-8 weeks... Just a theory, but I think the delay is a gift and curse. The gift is going to be that we’ll get 2020 versions, since technically we’re now in FY20. The curse of course is we have to wait.

blows my mind people return them. Im just curious what the other option that they went with was? An Audi A5? Like wtf...

Totally randomly passing by this thread and I am sure to get a lot of flack for this, but since I saw your post, I had to ask why not A5? Other than crazy/smooth acceleration, what exactly does an M3 have over an Audi A5? Comfort? luxury? Build quality? None of these imo. Heck, the damn thing doesn't even have power liftgate. Audi's infotainment system is awesome (apparently) so it's not like a cheap plastic touch screen with beach buggy support beats that. I recently sat in an A5 (have a Model S myself) and the build quality is astonishingly better than even the S, let alone 3. Some people want that a lot more than just acceleration.

I had an S, but the build quality of the 3 is way better. Especially, the interior.

I agree, Audi's build quality is in a different level, but Tesla and Audi have different philosophies.
Audi is like one of the fancy Nokia phones from the old days, whereas Tesla is a modern smart phone.

I take EV, safer vehicle, OTA, Autopilot, and FSD over build quality any day.

I do like the screen in the cluster but thats about all I can say. To me its a laughable comparison, and believe me i was a stubborn one to cross over. My car before this order was a mercedes c300 fully loaded sport package other than AMG and the experience was so bad. I would NEVER get another german car. I have two buddies that work at Audi, one tech and one sales guy. The tech loves them but agrees never EVER buy one. Complete junk.

To me I dont see how someone could even compare any mid size luxury sedan to performance 3 and i dont think im being bias because ive always been a car guy and a purist and I was a tough sell on this at first...

They're still listed as new after a return period.
There are 800 miles on the car, it's not a demo car, it is a new car that was returned within the return period.

No, they can’t do that, it’s very illegal. Once a car has been titled and registered, that’s forever in the records for that car, and very easy to see on a carfax. Title jumping was a scam dealers use to pull to avoid taxes, so it’s very closely monitored now. If someone drives off the lot with a Tesla, and it’s been registered in their name, that vehicle can never be sold as new again, even if they turn around 2 minutes down the road.

I agree. I love the changes that happened since I ordered. The grey wheels look awesome, and it appears that they made improvements to the wind noise in the current production line as well. But, yeah, the waiting stinks. Waiting since 10/8.
Which reminds me, I still don't have that $1,000 credit from the Performance price increase that went into effect after my order.

I don't have my credit yet either... I'm just being patient and will likely start pushing the issue closer to deliver / VIN assignment (ordered on 10/15).

I went to my car and clicked "Request a change". I picked "Other", and I requested an update on the the $1,000 adjustment bla bla bla. I did that right around the time I posted earlier today, and I just saw they added the $1,000 "referral credit" to bring the price back down.

do you think this is necessary or can I just bring it up when I go to pick up the car..I ordered on the 29th well before the price increase. I have a print out of my order agreement with the original price. Maybe I will bring it up to someone when I get a vin

I just did this, and they added the referral credit to mine pretty quickly. Everything is back to my agreement price. Thanks!

Probably won’t be an issue. It’s obvious they’re going to honor the original price for those of us that ordered before the price increase. But, given how easy this is to get changed now, why not mitigate the risk of it being an issue on delivery day? Given how out of the loop delivery specialists and sales advisors are, I wouldn’t be surprised if they had no idea, and it causing a hold up.

I submitted my request and within a few hours a referral credit of $1,250 showed in my account. I wonder why I got $1250, and everyone else is getting $1,000?
