An electric car based on the Lotus Elise. Seems familiar, huh? It's a german manufacturer situated in Regensburg, the car is built in Düsseldorf and there should be 667 units. The manufacturer is proud that the car is way better than the Tesla Roadster.

0-100 kmh in under 3 seconds, max. speed 250 kmh
    Range: up to 350 km
Motor: 272 hp and 350 Nm
Car weight: 900 kg (700 kg + 200 kg battery)

    Charging in 20 minutes possible.
Avalailable sometime in 2012 with a price of 285.600 €.
Did not find more info, some news claim the car has 6 gears.

Here is a picture gallery of the car:

    Gosh that is so ugly.
Looks aside, the battery weight (200kg) savings vs Roadster (450kg) intrigues me - imagine the performance & handling improvements if the Roadster battery was that light!.
Any detailed technical info on the battery; based on 18650 cells like TM?

Nothing found on it. Like it was with the Tesla Roadster, the news on the newspages are contradictory. They should be LiIon-batteries, but did'nt find anything else about it.

I do like the headlights but...
I don't like the profile, especially the bulges from the headlights. I don't like the 'X' taillights either.
The vertical fin things at the bottom of the rear are also ugly and I don't like the Karma-esque joker grin on the front.

If you take the new 3400 mAh panasonic cells and put them in an existing Roadster Sport you can close the performance gap significantly. I hope that we see someone take the Model S Sport motor and PEM and stuff them into a Roadster very very soon.

I've heard that Elon already had this done to his Roadster.

Why would they hide that from us?

( Not doubting you - just despairing. )

I know what you meant - in USA we tend to use "hand-crank".

Original article says eight hours to charge from a 230V household outlet (16A in Germany). That means 29 kWh battery max.

The 350km range is in city driving. 200km is claimed for heavy acceleration and deceleration.

Nowhere near better than a Roadster. And the price...

But for that, you do get to choose between 2 engine noises; either a throaty V8 or an F1 sound....

The grille IS even worse than the Karma's.

It seems like they used a similar motor (or two?) and went with more power dense batteries and extreme weight saving measures (like window cranks and carbon fiber even on the front bumper, which is probably not a good decision for most cars because of the repair cost even in a minor collision) in order to get better performance specs. But their specs still need verification (plus we don't know when or if it will ever hit production). That there is no mention of battery size, makes me kind of suspect.

But no doubt, if Tesla sold a car with the same price tag, they could obliterate it in specs (see the next gen Roadster thread).

Considering how long it took to sell the Roadsters, I would imagine the will have a reeeal hard time selling 600 of them at twice the price of a used R from a manufacture with stores worldwide.
