No, there is no way to adjust the location. It's all dependent on the GPS receiver in the car.

Did you by any chance drive backwards any distance before you parked the car?
At home and work I just pull right in. If I remember tomorrow night I will open the app before I shut off the car and see if that does anything.

Thanks for the response. If I stumble across a solution I'll post an update.

Ok. The reason I ask is that I have been fighting with Tesla for almost three years with the same issue where the location gets screwed up. My issue result from when I back up. The icon on the map keeps going forward about 2.5 ft for every foot I back up. This really screws up the navigation because now the car thinks it's on a different street where it actually is and keeps nagging to turn to the street I'm already on.
I complained again last week about this problem and the gyro board was replaced. The map seemed to work properly when it was tested in the Tesla SC parking lot. But when I got home I backed up on the street in front of my house and the location ended up half a block away in a bunch of trees.
When this happens, it takes about 3 miles of forward driving before it corrects itself. Sometimes though when I start the car and start moving the icon snaps back to the correct position. Sometimes it does not.
And the other aggravating thing is the location is critical for the garage auto open and close. The car will think it's outside the geofence area and will not open or close the door.

Here is how to test it. Put the car in reverse. Close the backup camera window. Zoom the map to it's maximum magnification. Drive backwards. The icon should flip around and follow the direction of the car.

I will have to test it out tonight when I back out of my parking spot. I'm interested in seeing what happens

MichaelS,
I tried the procedure you listed. When I backed up the "triangle" remained pointing forward, towards the nose of the car (didn't flip towards the direction of travel) throughout the movement. I park in a multi-story garage and the floor I was parked on was empty so backed all the way to the ramp that connects to the lower floor. The navigation showed my progress paralleling the street below, even showing the slight turn as I started into the ramp.

Disclosure: The raised concrete curbing and pillars caused me to wimp out and not back down the narrow ramp.

I wanted to test to see if there was a discrepancy between where the car's GPS thought it was and what the app showed. Last night I used the onboard navigation to direct me home. The nav stopped at the proper location, Google maps on my Droid showed the proper location. However, the app was showing the address down the street.

I just checked the app prior to posting. My car is at home and depicted on the map exactly where I parked her. Now only the address is incorrect. Progress!!

So just to be clear, when you backed up, the icon backed up also, even though it was pointing to the nose of the car.

OK, so your car is working correctly. But what is interesting is the fact that the address is so far off. I only see that if the location is messed up.
I'm Beta Testing the anti-tracking feature. :D

I will monitor the in-car navigation to confirm that it is tracking my routes in real time as well as checking the Droid app to see if it's just my home address that displays incorrectly.

Quick question for those running the Tesla app on a Droid.

Is there a way to adjust/calibrate the cars location? It's currently showing that my car is parked 5 houses down the street and I've noticed that it is "off" about the same distance when I'm parked at work as well.

If I back into my driveway the app shows my Model S parked in neighbor's driveway across the street. Guessing someone got too smart with pattern recognition of driveways and decided Teslas are always driven straight in never backed.

Thank you! That is exactly what my car is doing. Tesla has been non-responsive about this except for a curt reboot the MCU which of course does not fix the problem. Executive escalation is a joke.

I'd really like to get some feedback on how many people have seen this problem. Though this thread may be the wrong place since it is not an app problem.

Since the last update on our Model S, about 4 days ago, our app stopped working. 2 Android phones version 4.3 Tesla app 2.7.11 163 - can't get any newer on our phones. The message we get is "Unfortunately, Tesla has stopped."
Well, the Tesla works fine, its just the app that has stopped. Anybody else having the same problem since the last update? Any solutions?
I did send an e-mail to Tesla, but so far no answer.

@UrsS , I can't debug the official Tesla app for you, but how you've described it it doesn't sound like an issue with your vehicle but with the app itself.

I can let you to try out my app for Android called Dashboard for Tesla and see if that works for you. It offers more functionality than the official app, including more detailed error message if there is in fact a problem with your vehicle.

Use this access code for full access to all features the app has to offer usable on your actual Tesla vehicle valid Sunday-only:

8497

To enter an access code, press-and-hold the sign-in button for 3 seconds when signing in like normal.

Let me know if you need more time or need anything else.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry I did not get back here until right now. I tried to download your app, but my phone refused: "Can't download . . . error code 960" after it showed 99% download.
My suspicion is that the latest update from Tesla disabled my Tesla app from contacting the car. But then I should not be the only one experiencing this problem. And my wife's phone (same as mine) does exactly the same thing.
I'll try once more - later today.
Thanks again.

I'm afraid the news is not good. Android 4.3 is a very old version and many apps have stopped working because of this. I have an old Samsung tablet that has 4.3 on it and it's pretty useless now. And it can't be updated either.

The Tesla app has a problem with the older version of Android.

I was afraid of that - well, thanks for the information. At least it is not something weird and unique to my phone. I guess it's time for a new phone. I'm suspicious that the Model 3 would not work on that phone either - someone reported this much on the Model 3 forum (I think).
Thanks MichaelS for the information.

Indeed. Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean?) was released some time in 2012 if I am not wrong. The latest version of Android is 8.1 (Oreo). There have been major fundamental updates since 4.3. I don't think the Tesla app supports backward compatibility that far back.

Is "sun_roof_installed" not supported anymore?
This is the vehicleState response that I get from my car (it is equipped with a sunroof).
What's the proper way of determining whether the car is equipped with a sunroof?

thanks,

Have you checked to see if there is an official or unoffical LineageOS update for it?

Thank you for the tip. I had not heard of the LineageOS. It's a community supported Linux operating system.

LineageOS does take some technical knowledge to install. The instructions seem fairly straight forward though.

I was mistaken about my tablet. It's actually a Motorola Xoom. Unfortunately it's not supported. I do have a Droid 4 which is supported. Maybe I will practice on it and see if I can brick it.
