Phone Locked in Car and "Cycling"

Locked my phone (valet card cleverly attached to the back in a "phone wallet") in my 2019 M3. Through the window, I could see the phone, in the cup holder, (partially) going through a seemingly endless boot/reboot cycle. It was next to an NYC Metro Card, w/ a magnetic strip; don't know if that's relevant. The "locking the phone in" part is simple: I'm a moron. I will try to reform. But I am curious to know if anyone else has seen this sort of "phone behavior" before. Thx
