Howdy, I'm going to be going to the upcoming Get Amped event in Palo Alto. Of course I have my own list of things I want to see and ask, but I know some folks aren't able to make it to these events, or have been to an event but weren't able to see something that they wanted to see. I'm going to assume that we are all capable of phoning or emailing our product specialists to ask questions, but for those "picture is worth a thousand words" items, if anybody has specific things that they would like to see in a photo, request it here, and I'll do my best to get a photo at the event and then post the resulting images afterwards.
Hi MikeK, Thanks for offering to do this for everyone. I'd personally love to see a photo of what the back looks like with the rear seats folded down. Are they flush with the deck kind of thing.
You may not have a recorder. But if the blue car shows up I would like a walk around of the blue car on film. I don't think there is any video of the blue car in these forums. Alternatively if you can't, more pictures of the blue car would be awesome. And thanks for doing this!
Teslasguy, we both asked for the same thing in the Canadian thread. I hope we get it this time. Watch, it won't even show up.
VINs, please. I don't think we've seen VINs for these cars: Black Non-performace (reported to be at the Seattle and Palo Alto events) Signature Red Performance, with Obeche trim (reported to be at the LA event) Silver Performance with Lacewood trim (reported to be at the LA and DC events) Sunset Red Performance (does this one exist? Reported to be at the LA event)
I will have my HD camera, so I will do a walk around of the blue (and any other color) if available, and if doing so doesn't get me run over. ;-) Great requests so far, keep 'em coming!
I wouldn't mind seeing a shot from the driver's perspective looking up at the pano roof (wide angle lens, there!), and also the view through the pano from the back seat.
Since the Model S is the first car (at least that I’m aware of) that apparently uses the rear headliner together with the fixed lower-than-‘usual’ rear headrests as its whiplash protection for rear seat occupants (for those taller than the rear seat headrests that is), I at least, would find it interesting to see how the back of the head of someone who is tall enough to ‘tower’ above the rear headrests when sitting up straight, is positioned relative to a rear headrest and the rear headliner. As far as I understand it, that gap shouldn’t be too wide. According to the information in the link below for example (found in the paragraph below the first illustration): “The acceptable to good rating for proper back set is two to four inches; if the distance is more than half the width of the head, restraints [the headrests] are rated poor and if greater than a full head’s width, very poor.” CAOT - Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists -Quick Tips - Practising Restraint However, since I’m currently merely a Swedish environmentalist and not yet a reservation holder:crying:, feel free to regard this suggestion as optional.
How about a pano shot, maybe even something with Microsoft's Photosynth? Sent from my HTC Titan using Board Express
I so second this request! (I don't really care about the wide angle lens, but would appreciate seeing what can actually be seen through the 98% light-blocking glass!) Thank you so much for your kind offer. Whatever you can bring back will be like food for a starving soul! And, if there is a green car there...!
Very sorry, guys. Just saw the announced colors for PA, and blue is basically the only color that won't be there. :-( Red, Brown, Grey, Pearl White, Green, Black, White, Silver, and Signature Red will be there.
Aha! Good news! Tesla just posted on their Facebook page that they have added a Blue Model S to the lineup in Palo Alto. So, I will do my level best to get a good walkaround. If I can manage to get it all set up in time, I will try to bring my Steadicam to get a really nice video.
I've got a Steadicam Merlin...I would've taken it with my nice video camera on my Get Amped tour and captured a whole bunch of nice steady shots around the Model S but my wife's too impatient for that stuff!
+1 for the Blue car and +1 for view through pano roof. It would be great to compare, side by side, as many photos as possible of different combinations of dash finishes such as banana leaf, carbon fibre etc.... Thanks!
