Pickup vs. Delivery

Well, I finally got the long-awaited email from my delivery specialist. He offered me a choice between pickup in Bellevue WA or home delivery. I live in western Montana, a good 8 hours away. So that's a bit of a haul. Now I'm thinking about all the tradeoffs between delivery and pickup - opportunity to reject if needed (but would I reject it for anything if I'd flown to another state for pickup?), getting the car sooner, a fun day-one drive...

Complicating the matter is that I have travel coming up in late August / early September, so I don't want to wind up with a delivery truck showing up while I'm out of town.

Am I crazy for thinking of flying out to pick it up? I know EAP takes a while to enable itself - driving the first hour or two "by hand" would be fine but I don't want to be without EAP on an 8-hour road trip. Any other considerations I'm missing?

With a lot of posts complaining about delivery cancelations and manufacturing glitches noticed at pickup, it would be safer to have them deliver at home. My owner advisor told me that even if they try to rush at the time of home delivery, not to yield to that pressure and take my time checking everything out before accepting delivery.

I don't think your travel should be an issue. I read that someone was able to reschedule their home delivery three weeks after the car was ready to be dropped off because she was out of town.

Good luck. Hope everything works out.

I absolutely second this. I've been rescheduled 3 times and await the 4th now. So far I've been through 2 vehicles both with paint issues it seems. I'm not even picky I just want the damn car.
