Why do some shops only do the back window up to the top defroster line? Why don’t they all do it all the way up?

Why do some shops only do the back window up to the top defroster line? Why don’t they all do it all the way up?

I think is because they don't normally stock the width of the film that requires to tint the entire back window in one piece. Although my tint guy also said that the curve is a problem. Not sure if it is true or not.

Some shops are refusing to tint above the non-tinted portion of the rear window because there were early reports of glass cracks. One shop told me that there was a notice sent out from Tesla stating that the heat used to shape the tint was causing some kind of delamination between the plates, and that nobody should tint the top of the rear glass. I have seen no corroboration if this at all, so may be just bogus. Nevertheless, there are many shops that will not tint that section due to this issue, whether imagined or real.

Recently ceramic tinted my Model 3 windows with 50% front windows, 35% rear windows, and back window using xpel prime. I have received life time warranty and that this is honored by any xpel certified shops in the US. Attached are some pics of my 3 in different weather conditions. View attachment 339811

Here's mine: 20% fronts, 30% rear and back. Xpel prime xr black.

The third and fourth pictures are 20% and 30% respectively. I don't know how people 20% fronts. It's very dark at night. I don't know if I would go to 35% or 45% fronts if i did it next time, but I definitely would not go lower than 30%. Had the choice between suntek and xpel. Went with xpel. No orange peel or waviness.

Chrome delete is Satin. No wrap.

Did you end up only tinting the sides and not the rear?
