I have yet to see a Chargepoint charger that is anything other than 30A. It's shown on their map as "Level 2", so that means one of their 30A chargers.

Here's a link to their tech spec, which clearly shows 30A output max: https://www.chargepoint.com/files/73-001020-01-6_DS-CT4000-00.pdf

Hi Doug
i am also in Ottawa. I am new to all this. I have ordered a P85D mid February. Still waiting for a VIN :(. There are two ver network charging stations. $1 hour need membership. At 350 Albert St. Constitution square where I work. Already have signed up - just need my car now :)

i drive up north skiing a lot. Worried about the range (about 190km) in the winter as I have heard some serious range degradation at -30 occurs. Guess I will see. Did you install the tesla charger at home ? Not sure my panel will take it

Congrats! Happy to see more Teslas in Ottawa! 190KM each way is challenging in winter and I would use a charger at the destination. It should be easier if you are staying there overnight.

Good luck!

Not a great alternative, but far better than not plugging in at all...the Econolodge on Rideau (very nice folks!) allowed me to plug in to a 110v / 15 amp plug behind their office...recouped about 90 kms over a 14 hour period...it was a handy top off for peace of mind to get back to the Kingston Super Charger!

Jaff, you're always welcome to come by our office for some charging and munchies.

Albatross, if you have a charger at the destination then 190 km each way is easy.

300 km is about the safe limit with great care under extreme conditions - and that's a one-leg trip. Stopping overnight and allowing the car to cold-soak in the middle would get you in trouble. So you definitely need the charger.

Thanks Doug...I had anticipated that I would have to stop in, but the extra 90 km we acquired at the Econolodge was sufficient to get us back to the Kingston SC the following day.

(We were only in Ottawa overnight as my daughter had an appointment at the Austrian Embassy Monday morning...then we had to hustle right back as she had a class Monday night...)

There is now an 80A HPWC at the Aviation and Space museum (11 Aviation Pkwy) that recently showed up on their find us page.

That charger is currently malfunctioning and is stuck at 12A. There's a clipper creek station which gives 48A (but then slows to 36)
I think there's electrical issues at the location....

hopefully a more permanent installation will solve these problems this summer.

The thing is, now there are enough chargers on this Wikipost and now there is also PlugShare which has all the chargers you might need on its’ map. There is not much talk about destination chargers these days, more about new Supercharging locations
