Plaid Radar Detector install with switched power

For anyone interested in an alternative mounting method, I published my design on Printables.com. Search for "Tesla S Radar Detector Mount". If you don't have a 3D Printer, there are lots of services that can print it for you. I also published my designs for a socket adapter for those pesky front license plate safety screws and a wall mount for the charging wand.
Any way to make your mount for an Escort Redline 360c

I tried ordering the cables listed in the first post from Valentine.
They called and said they could not sell to me because I don't have a serial number. Incase I stole their detector... I tried telling the lady it is just an extension cable not internal parts. She said no. Any other extension cables others have found to work that I can still use the mute button?

Update:
I ended up ordering the one linked below and should report back later how it goes and if it reaches it should since it is 12'

I was able to mount mine up high in the X but as far as power it seems to be the same. Camera power from the housing green and black.

I did a video on it! Should be done soon but overall very happy.

So just went through this thread and the videos above. On a ‘23 model S plaid you can’t mirror tap from the connectors indicated on a Valentine V1gen2. You get it power up but after a few seconds an e-fuse kicks in a shuts the detector and keeps power cycling. Seems like not enough power.

Anyone tried the Valentine One Savvy OBDII module?

I’m running V1G2 on a 2022 S on a mirror-tap with no issues. I’d be surprised they changed it.

I highly recommend not using the OBD port even if it works. Just asking for trouble. I’m sure there are other places to tap.

I don’t know but my car has HW4 with different front camera, definitely something has changed. I tried two different mirror taps and no luck. Works fine powered through the 12V in the console. Worked perfect on my 2020.

Had it since mid 2020 and has the latest firmware from Dec 2022
Okay, so you have one of the earlier models. It might be worthwhile to contact Valentine Research. I seem to recall there was a minor change to the power circuitry, which may or may not be related to your issue. I have a slightly different issue with my V1G2 with my 10/2022-build S, where it won't power on automatically unless I manually unplug and re-insert the power plug. Adding an in-line delay relay solved the problem for me.

Oh shoot..... I have a '23 Model S Plaid and was hoping to tap into the mirror for my V1G2.

Hi, I just got a 2023 Model S Plaid

Trying to figure this out.

Would you be able to provide technical details so I can get my V1G2 to work?

Thanks, really appreciate the help!!

I don't have HW4... what voltage does the mirror tap line supply?
Personally, I use the ODB passthrough connector method.

I prefer to mount mine high using the stock suction mount.

I'm in the same boat as you are. Looking to mirror tap on a 23 MSP with HW4. I'll post back if I find anything, but I'm currently running via the 12v to the bottom right of my windshield with provided Uniden connector. The cord doesn't block center console screen and works ok for now, but I would ideally blendmount with mirror tap.
