Plasti dip Gemini Wheels

Looking to plasti dip my Gemini wheels, and was wondering if I need to sand/scotch bright the covers before using the dip? I thought it was needed before painting, but others dont seem to do so.

I was hoping someone with expertise could let me know!

I planned on removing the caps, washing them with soap/water, then alcohol. Then doing 4/5 light layers over.

@Hasek2 check YouTube, there's at least a few videos of people doing this. I don't recall any of them sanding or doing anything but cleaning. I believe most did a few more coats however--7 or 8.

thanks I did see a bunch of videos, no one sanded, im guessing the plastic dip is stickier than paint so there is no need

Washing with detergent and spraying alcohol are good ideas and perfectly fine to prep a surface before spraying

When I dipped my caps, I only washed them beforehand. No issues after 7500 miles. Ended up doing 5 coats in the normal drying intervals then 1 final one after letting them dry overnight.
