We have FD plates on our Tesla. There is no requirement for an EV plate but I don't see any reason you wouldn't want one, I explicitly asked Tesla for an EV plate. They said they keep a supply but they sometimes run out at the end of a quarter and have to use regular plates, I let them know I had a strong preference for an EV plate. I like the cute little EV with a plug for a tail,
Yes the EV is actually part of your plate number. I foolishly made this mistake in a parking app and got a ticket, thankfully Cambridge was lenient of my misunderstanding and tossed it.My M3 came with an EV plate when I took delivery of it last month. Does this mean that my plate number starts with "EV"? Or is "EV" not part of the plate number?
I forgot to mention there was no cost to swap out the regular plates for EV plates, other than my time.It took a trip to the Milford RMV and a 45 minute wait to swap them out for EV plates.
Start at the RMV website...I got mine without the EV plate, how can I request one now?
You have to go to the registry, they don't do EV plates by mail. Make an appointment on the website I don't think they allow walk ins any more.I got mine without the EV plate, how can I request one now?
The RMV will probably tell you what you need to do...Will I get a new registration number? If yes, I'll have to inform that to my insurance, to Tesla?
That must be a new; when I did the swap to EV plates on my LEAF in 2014 there was no charge.Replacement plates in MA cost $10 each
