Not only could Martin not make it to the plug-in 2010 panel, but neither could Chris Paine. Evidently the event producers saw no need to apologize for incorrectly advertising the appearance of two of the most important people in plug-in history, or to even mention it, perhaps because they were overwhelmed by the quality of Bill Nye the Science Guy’s contributions. Here’s Autobloggreen’s take on it:

Bill makes an effort to add a lot of humor to his presentation, with one-liners and by often assuming exaggerated speaking voices of stereotypes like old or thick-headed people. The extended one he does of a half-drunk guy struggling to control his voice is a masterpiece. You can check it out for yourself on the audio link on this thread.
Chelsea was a delight, as always, and Jessie and the audience were quite good and very well informed.
Here’s a idea: maybe Bill would be willing to work as a spokesman for Tesla Motors. He’s famous and well-known as a science expert, even though he was never a scientist. He seems like a fast learner so he could probably get up to speed on EV concerns with no trouble. He could get tips from his neighbor Ed Begley, who has experience as a spokesman for the Phoenix EV pickup.
