IMO, the big one you left off was production ramp up. All of the listed are important but significantly increasing battery production is the biggest gorilla in the room (after reducing pack costs). They must lay out the road map.

Getting mixed signals from Panasonic today? How can this divorce be finalized while they cheer greater demand from Tesla?

Does anyone actually think battery day they announce "Hey! we are totally making all the batteries we need ourselves as of today!?

Because that's insane.

Likely Panasonic ramps up for legacy 2170/1865 cells for existing 3/Y, legacy dual motor S/X, and powerwall demand

CATL ramps for China 3/Y production.

And Teslas "own" battery lines start ramping next-gen stuff for Plaid S/X, Cybertruck, Semi, and Roaster.

Eventually if the Tesla-produced-cells thing goes really well and scales really well they can replace panasonic output- but not anytime soon (esp. if they're at all serious about not just ramping new vehicles, but also solar/PW installs)

Only question is my mind is the future of 18650...

IMO Plaid Model S/X use new Tesla cells, then all Model S/X use Tesla cells. (Perhaps some Panasonic/CATL cells)

18650 lines in Japan are repurposed to make 2170 for Tesla energy.

I now think Model Y then eventually Model 3 may move out of Fremont, when they move they may eventually migrate to Tesla cells made in Texas.

The extra space will partially we used to make more cells/packs in Fremont...

Panasonic GF1 perhaps eventually just makes cells for Powerwall / Powerpack..

I see the Tesla Panasonic partnership as long lasting same as the CATL partnership.

We may see a real mix of pragmatic solutions... there is no need to use the one solution for all problems.

2 more to add:

  • Iron Phosphate announced for all SR models internationally? Until cost effective and sustainable source of Nickel is found.
  • Possible mention of the snake charger - maybe in a vision of the future tied up with V2G and robotaxis
