Here is a poll to guess how long it takes Tesla to redirect web site visits to "solarcity.com" to "tesla.com" for the front-facing part of the web sites, i.e., sales. Not included in this poll are some of the backend systems and non-http systems, like email, customer portals, etc., which are also very very important, but I want to make the poll non-confusing. This poll is not to assert any type of opinion on the people taking the poll as to whether or not Tesla should or when they should merge everything under the Tesla domain (although discussion about that is allowed). This poll is simply and completely for people to guess how long it will take for the two to merge the front facing web site under one "Tesla.Com" domain. One indication that this has been completed will be that when you enter "solarcity.com" into the URL for a web site, it redirects to a "tesla.com" address. I'm not proposing that there be a prize or winner for this. This is just a poll.
As someone in the web field, I think it's going to be a bit on the longer side. Given the fact that there are a number of business decisions needed to be made before work can even begin on the website, then a number of holidays. I wouldn't see anything before at least 1-2 months from now.
Well they are already showing the powerwall and solar roof products, but I don't know that an actual redirect is coming any time soon. As a Model 3 reservation holder and a SolarCity customer, I've got accounts on both systems, and if I'm headed to SolarCity to check my account, being redirected to Tesla only to go back to SolarCity again seems that it could be unnecessarily confusing. I would sooner expect tesla.com to become more of a portal to direct one to teslamotors.com, solarcity.com, tesla-AAG.com, etc. (That last one is a guess for Tesla Advanced Automation Germany but I can't believe they would make the .com name that enormous.)
