Marketing guy, raises his hand, and then interjects...

I would suspect this forum is heavily male slanted, as compared to the actual Model S buying public.
Not sure what the active forum participation numbers are here, vs the ~20,000 VINs rolling around out there, but most don't even know about this forum.

I wish we had more women on this forum, to keep us knuckle heads grounded. ;)

Tess doesn't consider me an "owner". She just tolerates letting me ride with her.

"No further questions, your Honor."
"You can step down now, sir."
"Can I go home now?"
"The bailiff will escort you to the lobby while we consider whether your license should be returned or not."
"Oh." :(

If you asked her, it is her car.... It replaced her old car too...

but if you ask me, both our names are on the title, and we drive it evenly. It's our car that technically replaced her car.

I do enough foruming for the both of us.

she always is sure to tuck it in at night, "go to sleep, car", and wake it up again in the morning, "good morning, car" "wake up, car".

I'm not surprised at the results; it's still statistically more likely, in the US at least, for a man to have enough money to afford the Model S than for a woman to. I doubt that it's an indication of taste.
As much as that statement hurts, it is probably true.

But I think that there is a higher percentage of women who simply don't care about cars. I have a coworker who said once "I had a car in college that I loved so much". So I asked, "Really? What kind was it?" And she replied, completely serious: "a RED one!".

Apparent learnings from this thread:

  1. Females are the dominant gender. Despite "ownership defined by title" women will take and "own" the car from her male partner if and when she feels like it.
  2. Males disproportionately hang out on TMC (ruing the day they told their spouse how good the Tesla was?).

Titled in wife's name. She currently drives it 70% of the time. If you ask her, it is our car. She is not on the forum. So technically you can't count her either. Like most political polls, this one is flawed. Remember the saying of my college statistics teacher: Statistics don't lie, but statisticians manipulate!

I think the women that are here are just as obsessive about their cars as the men, so we are in no position to keep anyone grounded!

What about Geek Girl and her wife?

I think Geek Girl voted and if her wife is on the forum as well, then that would be two votes for the women!

As a woman who obviously loves cars, I have noticed over the last week since Phoenix arrived that I have had almost as many women come up and ask me about her as men. I would say it has been about 60% men and 40% women. My sister, who was not a car person previously, is obsessed with her MS. She sends me photos of hers, I send back photos of mine... we are having quite a bit of fun with our mutual love of our cars!
