Installing an after market dash cam is pretty easy if you know what you're doing and should never require "tearing up" anything.

I'd rather leave the dashcam software to the dashcam makers and not Tesla. If after 7 years Tesla can't get a basic media player working, I can't imagine the cluster-muck they'd make of dashcam software.

You're probably right, I was just thinking it would be nice to have nice clean, integrated cameras. Especially when you consider possibly having up to 8.

Also, I thought of a 6th choice the original poll question should have:
- would you pre-pay Tesla to for a built-in dashcam, that is "coming soon, in a few months" ?
