Since Camping World (RV specialist) and Lordstown (Endurance Electric Pickup Truck specialist) have jointly announced their plan for "Class E RV", would you be interested in a Tesla RV anytime soon?

Lordstown Motors, Camping World to Build an Electric RV Together

They plan to have one test electric RV next year, 2021, with mock infrastructure at Sams and Camping World locations.

If the test goes well, they plan to sell it to consumers a year later in 2022.

Perhaps if there's a demand, Tesla might accelerate the adoption sooner.

The population is getting older and there are more retirees who might enjoy RVs in the long term.

Currently, in the short term, maybe a year or several more years (depending on how much freedom to infect others in the US continues), the pandemic has changed the travel behavior from air, bus, rails, hotels to RVs.

An electric RV would be awesome. Especially since you wouldn't need to deal with propane or generators. The Rivian delivery van might be a good base for an electric RV.

I will wait for a Tesla electric RV or the best aftermarket RV builder on a Tesla platform. Depending on how nice it was I could see selling my house and living in the RV full time.

maybe.... i'd ideally like the cybertruck sized suv, like the suburban

and then just saw this in an article today, the canoo mpdv looks cool, not functional to go long distance as it's intended for business cargo/transport, but stuff more batteries and it's a family hauler?

RV typically by coach builders - small volumes - very complex water, sewer, sleeping, cooking - all things for living. Too many options. Much better that coach builders continue to make RVs.

As much of a Tesla fan that I am, I think VW has this nailed with the ID Buzz. - at least I hope - the original VW bus was so versatile. Their new one shows promise with years worth of experience in that segment.

So it would use solar to charge the batteries. It doesn't say how large the solar array would be. My concern would boondocking it and there is not enough sun to keep the batteries charged.

I rented an rv for the first time last summer and realized how a Tesla RV would make so much sense:

1. no need for liquid propane to run the generator. 2. No need for diesel fuel.
3. Plenty of space for solar panels on the roof (and canopy?)
4. You plug in already at rv campgrounds quite frequently.
5. Starlink provided internet (bad internet is a problem with long duration wilderness camping!)
6. Self driving would be nice... not just for driving but also making sure your giant vehicle doesn’t clip any corners when backing up.
7. Good practice for designing self-contained space/Mars colony living!

also note.. the us market for RVs is actually not insignificant. I believe over 500K a year, and they cost like 100K+.

I'd be interested in an electric camper van, sprinter/promaster/transit sized. An RV build on the tesla semi doesn't make sense for me. Maybe once they get the cybertruck rolled out they can do a cybervan, but since the body of the cybertruck is integral to the design, it would have to be designed form the ground up. It looks like Rivian will get there 1st with mods to the Amazon van.
