Vendor Poll: The Benefits of Carbon Fiber Rims?

Hey TMC, we'd love to get your input on the top reasons you'd consider buying carbon fiber wheels for your Tesla.

I’d be scared as hell experimenting on carbon wheels. How do we know they are made right?

Also how they are handled at the local tire shop would be of concern.

Besides the cost, it's still a concern of CF fatigue and destruction pattern vs forged aluminium.

Finally, to answer your question about the tire shop - mounting and balancing is no different than with any other wheel. Of course, these are high-end wheels, and you'll want to be selective when choosing an installer. Aluminum, Steel, Magnesium or Carbon wheels can all be damaged by improperly used equipment.
