IMO the quarterly cash grab would not make sense to align to November 1st but rather it should begin right after a quarter end for maximum impact....

I can't understand why smart summon would justify a price hike since it is almost the first FSD feature.... If smart summon justifies a higher price then what did buying it before smart summon supposedly give you?

Feels like we're soon to see a trickle of new features that Tesla wants to get pricing raised a little prior to hitting the fleet... Like traffic light recognition on the GUI or?? followed by small price increments.

This is a biased poll.
Tesla has poured many many millions into FSD, and continues to pour millions more. It’s in early stages of development. They are charging what they feel it’s worth. That price will continue to change based on what they feel it’s worth, and based on what revenue they may need at a given point in their year.
That’s called business :)

Everyone is entitled to their opinion on what they think it’s worth to them.
BUT
YOU don’t have to buy it if you don’t want to.
I don’t understand the constant whining about the price.

I bought FSD when I bought the car, but I plan on keeping the car at least 5 years (kept my last vehicle bought new 11 years). If I were one to trade in my car every few years, I would not buy FSD. I do not really believe that FSD will fully come to be in the next 3 years. My hope is that they keep adding features and I get to enjoy my upfront gamble. If they get it fully working in limited areas (like lets say interstates and certain areas of cities) I would be happy.

I just do not believe that I will end up owning a robotaxi in the next few years. Maybe if I keep this car 11 years like the last one...

I bought a long range dual last Friday. I told the delivery specialist that I didn't mind paying the 6k upfront for FSD as long as the price doesn't decrease. Tesla is aware that lots of buyers are skipping on the FSD upfront in hopes that the price will eventually come down. These buyers rationalize that it's only a "software update " and just "pure profit" for Tesla. I told him that this would really piss off tons of loyal customers. He assured me that the price would only go up.

Why? What does anyone else’s purchase price, transaction, discount, negotiation or vehicle have anything to do with you?

I don’t get this mentality ... at all. The only thing that matters is what YOU pay for YOUR vehicle. Whether someone else pays a dollar or two hundred thousand dollars has no bearing whatsoever on your completed transaction. None.

I thought the same thing almost two years ago when I bought FSD. Price went down early this year. Today it only costs $6k for what I paid $8k for. Tons of loyal customers were pissed off.

Hope you weren’t counting on that advice from the salesperson.

That's not correct.

In April, Tesla bundled Autopilot on all Model 3s (except the $35K version) and made it a standard feature.

But it's not "free" -- when they bundled it they raised the price of the SR+ by $2000, from $37,500 to $39,500. An Update to Our Vehicle Lineup

$6000 (FSD)+$2000 (AP)=$8000, the same price for the full package as before the change ($5000 EAP+$3000 FSD).

Under the old EAP+FSD system, before they made AP standard they did briefly reduce the cost of FSD from $3K to $2K -- that may be what you had in mind.

Eh, overall the prices of the cars have gone down since 2017 even with the tax credits going away. So, yes, today someone is paying $2k less than I did for the same package. I paid $51,500 for my LR RWD before EAP and FSD. I can spec out a nice AWD today the same for $50,490 and it comes with AP. With the tax credits ($7500 vs $1875), that car is only $4600 more expensive than mine and it includes AP. I believe the original price gap between LR and AWD was $5000. So, if I ordered today I would get AP for free compared to what I originally paid.

I don't know why they are changing prices on anything. I'm not in the board room.

The only thing I believe is that they don't think they will lose out on any sales by doing so. I don't see Tesla raising their prices while knowing that doing so will hurt bottom line profits.

I hope they will start the ability to rent features soon.

As much as I appreciate Elon's impressive qualities, pricing, timing and transparency are not always his strong suit....so sorry if I don't think one of his tweets is "end of story"

This wasn't intended to be a biased poll, but rather the more I thought about it, the more layers of possibly creep into the picture.

On the surface this could simply be tied to smart summon. Done. But, I'm not sure if it's really that simple. Honestly, is smart summon good enough to justify moving from $6k to $7k? What was my Tesla capable of at $6k before that smart summon now adds ~17% more value to justify $7k? I realize that this is not a zero sum game since it's marketing. I'm also not complaining about the price (I bought FSD for $2k), but rather trying to look between the lines and see if anyone else suspects that the price is more driven by things that are coming soon vs things that are already here.

That kind of simple math doesn’t work when Tesla is trying to volume produce and sell.

Any dollar above 35K On the SR is Tesla making you pay for AP.
