Porsche Taycan - Tesla Rival Seen Today

I was awfully excited to pull out of my community and see the Taycan in local traffic. I'll say it's a very handsome car, but it was camoflauged around the rear and front lights. It's surprisingly LONG. Anyone see these out and about yet? I assume it's being tested or something being out in town? I really wish i was able to get pictures. I'm mad at it. lol

Aside from pleasing some Porsche enthusiasts, it seems pretty unlikely this car will make a dent in Model S' popularity. Of course, they'll have it "sweep" awards much like the ridiculous I-Pace.

Good for EVs overall as every Taycan is one less ICE.

I can attest to that. I once had a brand new Audi A4 Quattro. The power relay went out at 5500 miles and had to be towed to the local Audi dealership.

What no TeslaCam footage??! Great use for capturing things like that. In fact today I hit Save when I was in the left lane of traffic and in the right lane I noticed a Tesla, in front of that another Tesla and yet in front of that another one. That was pretty amazing to me.

Surprised this is not an everyday occurrence in the Bay Area. It is for me; the route to Sorrento Valley is a veritable cavalcade of Model 3s these days. It’s just one after another every single day. Three or four in a row is quite commonplace.

Have not seen one yet (but surely it will be an awesome car). That said, I have yet to see and iPace or e-Tron in the wild either. Saw my first Kona EV this morning.

The Porsche Taycan is expected to be shorter than the Panamera, which is shorter than the cruise-ship sized Model S.

LOL, 'German engineering' don't know that electrical or reliability engineering disciplines exist. And cognitive bias that reciprocating IC engines need no innovation for 100 years, 18% thermal efficiency, yay.

The estimate I've seen floated is 4.85m, compared to 4.98m (196") for the Model S. So still about 5" shorter, about half way between a 3 and an S.

Supposedly the interior of the Taycan is going to blow us away. So maybe that will be worth the extra money.
