Port sticking out from Center Console

I just noticed when I got my Model X back from the 1 year service they left this port sticking out from the center console.

Anyone know what its for?

Looks like the CAN bus access point for maintenance. It should have been stuffed up int the center console before the cubby was snapped back in place.

Looks like someone was in a rush...yup it is just a diagnostic port. You can remove the cover yourself and put it back in.

Yesterday, a Ranger came to try to install software updates that kept failing. He removed a large unit from under the console and plugged his laptop into a plug like the one shown in the previous post. I couldn’t believe the incredible screens he had access to. Would love to be able to go through those.

For sure it is the diagnostic port. I use this to connect the adapter and a BT dongle to run TM-Spy and ScanMyTesla.
It is said that this port is read only, and there is another smaller 4-pin Ethernet port for s/w update.
