Saw these in Bunnings the other day.
Good to see Bunnings selling product that can reinforce the growing awareness of EV's and the required charging paraphernalia, but their pricing is shite,
e.g. the Type2-Type222kW, Bunnings price $329, or $265 here or $259 here or $250 here.
I wonder if the Tradie Discount card might buy you cable at the mid-200's price point ...

Love it. You know EV’s are reaching some form of national consciousness when Bunnings starts stocking EV accessories!

We need more bogans and tradies driving EVs. That’s when we know we’ve won.

In other news, Ford has just launched its fully electric F-150 in the USA. I think I’ll send a clipping to Scott Morrison and Michaela Cash.

Yep - “lower prices are just the beginning” is a bit of a furphy, especially when it comes to specialised products.

I almost never buy electrician’s hardware from them, for example, their prices are nuts compared to an electrical wholesaler and only those not in the know would do so. As well as having a very limited range of the more specialised stuff. I guess they can’t be everything to everyone...

But still, nice to see them recognising that EVs exist. I’d be fascinated to know how many of these they sell. What store was this in? Searching for these cables in their online store yields 0 results.

RE: Bunnings cable. Do they still sell this? I couldn’t find it on the website for click and collect. Or has anyone ordered from ev chargers before? Can you advise on quality?
I’ve recently purchased from evolution australia, which was an excellent experience with exceptional customer service. They sell all types of chargers and seperate cables. The cable prices were below those from bunnings, however stock is very low for them at the moment

I have seen some of their cables out on loan (TOCA's Loan Adaptor Program). The connectors are fully sealed and cables are the rubber heavy duty style.
Their product page lists 19 reviews, with 94% 5-star rating - the only 3star review was "Can’t comment yet as I haven’t received the items yet." Sheesh!

You're not kidding - I couldn't find anywhere on their website where to buy the 11kW Type2 cable, only 7kW and 22kW and the 22kW is out of stock in both straight and curly-cord versions.
Model 3 owners (and MS/X refresh) would be paying a premium for the 22kW version when their on-board chargers can only take 11kW (at a 3phase Type2 charging outlet).

FWIW, I heard from another TOCA member today that evchargers are getting more stocks of Type2 11kW cables next week.

Then to unplug without going to screen, app, or fob, there is a small button on the left of the charge port. Unlock the car doors as nomal, and then press this button.
Others may know of this feature….it took me a few years to find it.
It was only made available in a firmware update late last year

I’ve been traveling entirely without adapters. At powered camp sites I use the standard mobile connector with the 15A tail. Sometimes this tail’s bent 90° plug makes it hard to plug in to some sheltered camp power sockets so I intend to get a short 15A extension cord.
I’ve not come across a plug or socket requiring an adapter but of course I haven’t sought these out either.

While the 11kW versions are pointless at a 3-phase site.. the car can only take 3ph 16A.

They are useful at single phase outlet (in the minority but there are some around).
With an 11kW cable you'd only get 3.6kW at this site (as the cable is capped at 16A), where you'd get double with the thicker 22kW cable.

It occurs to me that it would have been great if the specification had included a way for single-phase EVSEs to use the cable conductors in parallel (paralleling L1 and L2 conductors for active and L3 and N conductors for neutral), meaning that a three phase 16A cable could do 11kW in three phase, or 7kW in single phase.

I presume you meant the 22KW versions are pointless at a 3phase site.
Has your second point been verified, ie is the charge rate limited to 16Amp at a single phase site with a 11KW 3 phase cable?.

Yes 22kW cable doesn't give any extra value beyond 16A at 3phase sites (I did qualify that in my earlier post #33).

If anyone knows of a single phase Type2 charging site in Melb please reply here - I have a 11kW cable and can verify (provided it is less than 10km from home 😛)
