The Nation Weather Service has issued a High Wind Watch for the SF Bay Area. If you have a Powerwall this may activate StormWatch and your Powerwall may start changing from the grid hours before the event.

The High Wind Watch starts late Monday, Jan 31, 2020 and continues into Tuesday, Feb 1. Here is the link for the watch. Below is the text as of 0725 local.

This line is concerning considering the last wind event.

Hi-resolution model guidance is suggesting that this offshore wind event might be similar to the one we experienced on January 21 and 22. Strongest winds are once again expected across the North Bay Mountains.

All this wind makes me want to put a windmill in my back yard... are windmills subject to the $8 per kW per month fee? heh.
Actually I think a small wind turbine integrated into solar would be an ideal setup to give 24 hours coverage, however, I am sitting on a ridge and wind speed normally is below 5mph, I think I would need at least 5 to 10mph or more daily to have meaningful energy output to supplement my need from dusk to dawn. But maybe not, I think the problem would be the integration part. Tesla, are you listening?

If it is integrated it its grid-tied so would be out of NEM 3 until PG&E and their close partners in CPUC figure out they should change the language to include wind.

I just noticed StormWatch came on sometime early this morning here in Pleasanton. The High Wind advisory is now for 2/01-2/02 2022.

Wish we could trade the high wind warning for a heavy rain warning.

never got SW activation in the oakland hills. and as it turned out the wind was not so bad.

somebody used to have a very small wind turbine near my kids' elementary school and man, it was loud. very buzzy. i think it would drive me insane. would be OK if you were out in the country, but it seemed pretty inappopriate for a neighborhood.

The Merck building by the Genentech campus in South San Francisco has some good looking vertical axis turbines mounted on 20 ft pole, the traffic noise is louder than the turbines on a windy day. Maybe I should get out of the car and walk under the turbines to get a hear, I wouldn't mind having couple of them in back of my house.
