what if you bought one today at these 'old' prices

Tesla honoured the original sale price for me, I also got (gratis) some elements that were improved during that period. On flip-side: during that time the 85 was "retired" and I was given choice of "take delivery of 85 immediately", "Downgrade to 70, with refund" or "upgrade to 90 at increased price"

Apparently a number of people were very angry - perhaps they were max'd out on finance, and awaiting end of finance contract so could not take early, nor afford the upgrade ... but also did not want the lower range.

Dunno if any of that would still apply though ...

I had the opposite experience with a PCP/price change from July-August. That is one thing it seems so inconsistent between individuals the good experience to the average no communication dud intel version? Why is that I wonder as the people are great but nothing, in my experience, ever got done, nothing replied to and so forth?

it seems so inconsistent between individuals

In my case this was "machine generated". I placed my order and then when 85 was discontinued got the same standard email as everyone else, with a back order, that I had to make a choice.

The sales person I spoke to was good, but not 100%, same with the delivery specialist.

It did seem that at times a change from USA caught them out somewhat (was implemented later than expected, or differently in some way). This is in part the Elon / Tesla way. Elon repeatedly announces and the delivery doesn't happen on time (most recently a promise of a blog post - although on that occasion his rocket blew up the same day which maybe took all his attention - but surely a "Sorry guys, other things on my mind, blog post delayed" is not that hard to write - or have a minion write).

If you want a Tesla I'm afraid you'll have to decide to put up with that ... until the young company grows up ...

Thanks I agree and yes that is something that I figure 99% of us are happy to deal with as the car is good enough, my individual beef is I did have a car, deposit paid, all done as should be and still lost the sale due to it being a 'young' Company messing up all the paperwork and information, loosing sales and hacking off customers (no matter how chilled they may ultimately be) is a pretty tough business model to pursue :)

I'm ok eventually that the car fell through, just looking for used Model S now, or wait 1-2 years for used X, but I am still peeved at my general treatment overall, as anyone would be if the same happened I am sure.

Yes it keeps changing so must be testing or something? Took a frame grab at £55,700 when it came up but as it keeps swapping back and forth this may be only for testing the numbers going up, not sure what they are doing to be fair.
Funny thing is all the PCP prices changed too and the other cars shifted up also (90D etc), couldn't grab every screen.

I'm surprised that they didn;t put that cock-up right for you, in some way.

I doubt - hope?!! - that they aren't testing on the live site. It might be that something is cached somewhere (e.g. in their server farm it is on one machine but not yet the other(s)), or DNS is in the process of being changed (can't think why it would be that though) ... but either way, they ought to fix that so that any change appears all-at-once.

That is what they have said to everyone, but there were about 30 Model S available and overnight they were all pulled from the site.

So not exactly sure how they managed to sell all the inventory stock so fast.

Either way, from my understanding regarding production, there will be a lot more inventory stock becoming available in the next few weeks.

Thats interesting Primed101, I'm hanging on for new inventory stock or Q4 UK sale. Also curious as to how that many cars got 'sold' overnight too, lots of white base 60 just went in one swoop of the mouse it seems ....

ordered a 60D nearly 2 weeks ago as didn't want to pay extra from October. Don't want car until March. Been told by Heathrow delay from head office of price rise which will happen today. my 2 week 'cooling off' finishes today so must say i'm feeling sceptical about this announcement. Will wait until The US wakes up to see if anything changes, otherwise may cancel and re-order closer to March.

Same info today that the influx of orders has meant that end of business today is when the price increase will happen.

So all these extra cars were sold based on this October increase alone. No deals or Q3 sale just regular pricing so I too am a little sceptical as to what changed buyers minds to suddenly go crazy and order all these cars based on the same price as online with no deals, just feels an odd one.
All that was done to encourage these huge extra UK sales is that Tesal announce they are going to increase the base price this October, is that really enough for everyone to suddenly go ahead and buy at the same price it was for months?
Q3 fire sale yes it makes sense, this though is a bit puzzling, to me.
I'm going to wait and see what Q4 brings in.
