Isn't the profitability of a robotaxi easy to determine by comparing it to a human-driven taxi? The vehicle costs more, but driver is zero, However, the vehicle cost is mostly one-time up-front, while the driver is paid over time. That should be easy to calculate.

Over time, as robotaxis replace human-driven taxis, the economy changes. There will be competition between robotaxis, and the business model will be similar to any other.

The only time profit exists in taxis is when the gov t steps in and limits supply. They are not going to limit supply of robotaxis. Uber is the perfect example, destroyed billions in capital and still destroying.

how about the prediction based on some of the Tesla press headlines?

Before New Years Day, Tesla will release FSD V11 based on a 2022.48 branch and will release it to all cars ready to make 2023 the year of the single stack.
Then every car will have the latest FSD V11 based AP and anyone can easily start an FSD subscription just by signing up.

Figure in Facilities and employees to support the Storage Maintenance, repair and cleaning for vehicles. Customer Support and IT support. Commercial insurance. Charging infrastructure. You are not going to be able to return thousands of cars to base for charging. Charging will need to be Autonomous.. Uber doesn't pay for much just the driver. The driver is responsible for all costs.
