In face of recent events, its time to revisit this thread:
How much impact would have SCTY Bankruptcy have on Tesla if the merger fails?
Non-Gaap accounting will get under ever more scrutiny
I think it would be very tough on TSLA shares because Elon is such a big part of SCTY as the chairman of the company, and because TSLA's valuation relies heavily on the Musk factor. It would put a large dent in investor confidence in Elon especially as he has been buying shares of SCTY continuously in recent years, and he now is trying to fold it into TSLA. People would be asking if he had gotten his way and what turned out to be a toxic company had merged with TSLA what consequences that could have had and why Elon could have misjudged to company so badly.
If Elon hadn't proposed this acquisition a SCTY bankrupcy wouldn't have been as bad, but he has just raised the stakes significantly. On the other hand of course, if SCTY turns out to be a huge success his credibility will go up greatly.
