Just got my wheels powder coated satin black at wheel specialists in Tempe AZ. Only took two days and they gave me loaner Tesla wheels to use while I was waiting which made it very convenient. I think it looks great.

Tip for those with powder coated wheels: If you rash the wheels, a black Sharpie works great for hiding the blemishes.

For the center hub, I just bought grey caps from Tesla for $5 each. They're a tad lighter than the wheels but close enough for the time being. Tesla does make a black cap for the model X 22's but the wheels are on back order so the center caps aren't avail for purchase. The shop charged me $145 per wheel which included removing and re-balancing the tires, removing and replacing the TPM sensors, etc. This is the high side of average for LA but Kevin who runs the shop happened to have a set of Tesla rims on hand which he loaned me while the work was being done which allowed me to keep the car which was awesome. Work took about 5 days.

Please let me know the name of the shop a person you used to powder coat your OEM Tesla wheels.

Any downside with power coating the standard wheel?

There is no downside to powder coating wheels. I've done it to every set of wheels I've owned for the S -- 4 sets in total.

I told the place that did mine to make them “Tesla Grey” and he knew what I wanted. I got the lug nut caps from Tesla. Oh, the wheels are ceramic coated (inside barrel too).

Thanks for posting those pics. I am going to powder coat my slipstream wheels and couldn't decide between grey and satin black. After seeing your pictures, I am doing black. They look great! Nice job!

Welcome to the forum.

Sound wheel works in Bellevue (Google Maps) is where I get all my wheel work done. Can’t recommd them highly enough. Did my 21” turbines in midnight silver and about to do same with my arachnids.
