Would you mind sharing how you managed this, and do you have two sets of wheels? Also who did the Powder Coating I'm coming down in September to pickup our new Y.
Easy route: second set of wheels/calipers. I've done quite a few wheels and calipers (powder coating) and noticed how much better it holds up over paint. The calipers are the biggest pain, but some shops will remove them and do the coating process along with your other items. Some places won't mess with a Tesla due to liability and not wanting to mess with lifting them. Ask around.

Got mine done at Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists of Seattle. Really friendly and easy to work with. And yes I do have another set I used for winter so it made it easy to drop off boxes and pickup. Give them a call to get your options. Good luck!

Plastidip them! Very inexpensive, removable, and if you get curb rash, they can be repaired easily.

Literally costs $20 to do yourself and you don’t even have to take the wheels off.

Painting the calipers is also very easy and inexpensive, though those take longer...

Had mine powdercoated gloss black by Kwicksilver Wheel Repair in Sacramento. They charge $99 each plus $40 each for dismount, mount and balance and tpms removal and reinstall. Takes about 2 days and they store the car while work is being done.

They didn't powder coat the center cap? Or you told them not to?

Center cap is plastic, can't be powder coated as it would melt in the oven. Also, I didn't want them powder coated. The chrome lug nut caps and center caps match well with the chrome door handles and other chrome trim, IMHO.

FYI: the silver portion of the center cap is metal and can be powder coated. The trim that snaps into the wheel well is plastic, but the cap has tabs on the interior that can be gently bent away.

After a year of plastidip I decided to get satin powder coated wheels. Plastidip looked good at first and is easy to repair, but wasn’t easy to clean. Found a place in Orange County that does swaps so it was really easy without requiring my car to be out of commission for a few days. They had an option of gloss black or satin black, both looked good. But after seeing satin on the car I’m glad I went that route.
