Power of Attorney

Just received my 3 day window to select delivery. Called my delivery center and informed them that I wanted to push my date out so that I would not have to exercise power of attorney.

They informed me that their center, Portland, is no longer accepting power of attorney purchases and will only hold my car for 3 days.

Pretty frustrated since I was told my car could be held up to 7 days and could use power of attorney. Any suggestions?

I think I would be inclined to just have your power of attorney show up and take delivery and see what they say. The DA who gets assigned to your car may have no idea there’s any issue. Typically the people who you talk to on the phone are entry level employees who read from a script. They are the same people who say no personal checks and you must pay up front even though neither of those things are true.

My bigger concern with power of attorney is what if there is something wrong with the car? Do you trust your POA to do a thorough inspection and if necessary get a written due bill of anything that is wrong with the car and needs to be fixed?

They can't deny delivery to a power of attorney. That's illegal. That's like saying, yes you're paying for this car, but now that I've looked at you, I don't wanna sell to you. It's discrimination and illegal. Whoever told you that didn't know what they were talking about.

They asked for my driver's license but I look very different in the picture as I have grown out my hair much longer.
They didn't question.
Let your person take your driver's license and pick up the car.

I worked it out with the center. They’re letting me do it just with more paperwork than usual.
