Power Off

Trying to use Power Off for a deep reboot. I took out the USB drive, and turned off my phone. Sat in car with the doors closed and windows up. Hit Power Off. Sat there for 30 mins. The car would not go quiet - always had some motor noise.

After 30 mins i pressed the break and the car instantly came back up. I'm assuming that means it never fully powered down. Anyone ever get their car to completely power off?

You are correct, it never powered off. That's what happened to me too when I tried in order to install the OBD2 cable for ScanMyTesla. Ended up doing it anyway. Some people seem to be able to power down but I don't know their trick.

The closest I get to power down is to let the car sleep by itself.

The way I've done this in the past is to open side doors (front and rear in case of OBD2 cable install) and then do the 'power off' and leave the vehicle. Don't close any doors, and don't sit in the drivers seat. That was at least a year ago so on a much older SW version.

The only way to do it for sure it to pull the 12v connection under the frunk and the HV connection under the rear seat.

This is the procedure Mobile Service does to ensure the car is completely off.

You followed the procedure listed in the Owner's Manual, so it should have powered down (although the OM says you only have to wait about 2 minutes). Did you do it after driving the car?

Tried twice, once sitting in garage so the car hadn't moved. The 2nd was after a drive.

Ok, was just wondering - so maybe that was normal 'cooling off' stuff that you were hearing....
