I'm surprised that a guy that tall would drive away with the steering wheel set that low. Its pretty much wedged between his knees.

Probably just out of habit. I still use mirrors (rearview and side) when backing up in addition to the camera view. Camera view is usually distorted or fish-eyed, so can be deceiving at times.

As rear backup camera is US federal government standard (not sure of other country standards) starting next year, surely the 3 has a backup camera.

Of course it does. I know it tilts, but not sure if it telescopes or is manual or power adjustment.

Because in that video there's a 2" gap above the steering column. It's definitely not fixed like that since it has been shown in numerous other pictures as being right up against the dashboard.

How do you know?

The gap has changed between the column and the dash. In that video, the wheel is set quite low and the gap is large. Other images you can tell column is much higher and the gap is quite small.
