Well, hello there, first post.

I just reserved a PW installation and curious what would be an expected lead time. I tried to search through the forum and don't see much a lot of posts from east coast folks... wonder why btw.

About my project. The solar array should be installed in spring and I initially was thinking to have a single PW as a critical load back up, installed all at once by the same company. Then I ran across Tesla's PW offer and decide to go with two units instead. With a solar part is in motion, I'm trying to figure out PW project timeline.

Cheers

I had my panels installed this past spring also and decide to order 2 PW2s around mid to late August. The longest part of the wait was having to submit a complex application thru National Grid. All things considered my install was completed on Sept 27th. On a side note if you have National Grid you should consider signing up for the virtual powerplant. I know in RI I will receive about $1200 per PW2 per year to discharge it between 45-60 times. I was also able to get a ZERO interest HEAT loan thru National Grids program to pay for the powerwalls over 7 years.

Phew, feel better now knowing I'm not alone lol j/k Yes I'm planning to sign up for virtual powerplant or whatever it called in MA. I've heard this is a requirement if Iw ant to have HEAT loan for PW.
p.s. Have you posted your setup description somewhere by any chance? I still a little bit in the dark if I'm doing right thing going for full house back up and 2 PWs. We just bought this house last year and two weeks later had a 3 days power outage so lot of my neighbors went to install generators. But we have no natural gas so I hope that combination solar and PW would be a good alternative. Trying to figure out if it works in our geographical zone.

Thanks

I originally signed up for whole house but I ended up getting an oversized breaker for my hot tub so I could get the free non backed up breaker box. Once the powerwalls were installed I moved that breaker back to the panel being backed up. My reasoning for doing that was when I put in a Level 2 charger for my car I don't have to have it backed up. Now it acts as a whole house with that extra panel for the future.

I’m in MA and have been waiting since early December for Eversource to approve our connection application for 3 powerwalls. It seems that some people are being required to upgrade the utility’s transformers in order to push power back out to them in connected solutions program. Hopefully that doesn’t happen to us or would kill project financially. We have a 13.68 ground mounted PV array. It already doesn’t seem like the $225/kW for summer participation is enough as it appears from the Tesla National Grid data that each PW may produce $700/year after 20% backup is automatically withheld. By getting 3 PWs we hope to fund the $12k heat loan we’ve taken out. It is also not clear whether we still get net metering for this battery stored peak power sent back in summer or just the cash. That might have impact on our annual summer/winter power needs. Any thoughts?

Update.

I called Tesla after 3 weeks of waiting and was told someone will definetely make initial contact in 30 days, if not call us back and escalate. Well, I called back two weeks later and this time I was given 60 days window for initial contact and 6-9 months waiting for the actual installation. I went back to my local company who would be doing the solar installation and going to do everything at once.
