I'm planning to put Xpel Stealth PPF on my upcoming Model Y, and I wanted to start pricing it out. In my search, I could not find someone who accurately measured the panels to the level of detail I wanted. Cue me, with a tailors flexible tape measure, getting the exterior dimensions of a test-drive Model Y at my local store.
A lot of these dimensions are based on the notion you'll need to have a maximum section to cover a panel. So I envisioned a door not as a complex shape, but instead a big box. This will leave left overs, and is not an optimal use of PPF material. Where possible, I rounded up to the nearest inch. In reality, you would want to cut a bit bigger just to have wrap space to work with.
I've lifted the images from Xpel's precut and labeled them with the dimensions I collected. Then I roughed them out on a 48" wide roll. Without optimization, looks like a 48" by 60ft will cover everything.
With optimization, I'm expecting I can get this down to about 40-50 ft.
Any expert PPF folks around here please let me know how off base I am
