That's too bad, they really should add that to the retrofit version. It's not too hard to add a 12v outlet on the rear of the console though, so that's probably the best option if you need power for the rear seat.
I don't own this product, but I wonder if it's worth considering for a situation like this:

I was thinking of velcro-ing the backseat unit to one side or the other of the center console, near the back edge. Note that I don't have the premium center console being discussed, my car has the stock console and "yacht floor" from 2015. But my WAG is that if this USB charger should work with pretty much any Model S console setup.

This is what I ended up doing to get power for the rear seat. I went with a 12V socket to get the most flexibility for what I could plug in.
