It would be great for Tesla out of their good faith make up the $3k for early adopters. But why would/should they??

I like many of you owners here were well aware of the pricing, terms and condition when we configured, financed, insured, signed, and took delivery. No gun to the head, no pressure, no surprises.

Now of course it stings a little with Tesla and its tasteless business practice to drop the price after just a few months of release. But in the end, Tesla is a business and business don't give a damn about feeling and emotions.

No matter how much some of us rant about poor customer service etc. with Tesla, most of us will not jump ship and still want a piece of that pie. Crazy part is that we as consumers have OPTIONS. Yet.... we stick around because of the cool factor.

Tesla is the #1 auto manufacturer in the world, and they know it. They will not lose sleep over a small batch whom felt like they got shafted $3k that took delivery before July 11th.

I got the car in March. All the experiences and enjoyment I got from driving my Y the past three or so months far exceeds the $3k I "lost" imo. No regrets.

As an investor, this is a drop in the ocean of gains.

Wonder if you would feel the same way if you only got to drive the car 1 day before price was dropped. Meaning all you would have to do is not drive for 1 day and get $3k in your pocket? Much harder pill to swallow.

Again, is there ever a good time to drop a price without someone complaining? We just learned they’re no longer going to offer the standard range option for MY so that’s one reason for the discounted price. So for those people holding out for that, this helps them. Tesla still has a high demand for the car. It’ll be a minority of people who beg for some kind of repayment because of all this.

If that was the case since it's only one day and within the return policy, I'll return the car and get my money back.

If it's beyond the date of return, let's say eight or more and the price drops. Sure, hard pill to swallow but cars are depreciating assets and Teslas are no different until we see otherwise. So if this happened to me, I'd think of it like I missed out on a Memorial Day weekend sale at a dealership. That's just me.

They would be in the return period, so not ideal, but at least there's some leverage. Those that were just outside the return period (8 days+)...I feel bad for them. But I would also agree -- I don't think there's an obligation for Tesla to provide any compensation. It's just bad timing.

To add insult to injury, those who purchased in the last couple of months and sold or traded in a vehicle also got smacked on plummeting used car values. I think the used car market has been recovering, but I feel bad for those who, unfortunately, got the short end on both the Model Y price and selling their previous car.

2 Years of Premium connectivity (at $10 a month) is $240. To make it equivalent to thhe $3k it would pretty much have to be a lifetime (24 years) of premium connectivity.

Supercharger miles always expire after 6 months, and each 1000 is worth around $100, so they would have to give 30,000 supercharger miles, good luck using that up in 6 months lol.

Store credit would have been nice (homelink and other accessories), and premium connectivity for a few years on top.

By the way, where did you write? email? which one? I feel that if enough people raise a hubub they will do something, maybe not 3k worth.. but anything would be worth it.

Regarding people saying that they dont owe us anything.... this is true, from legal perspective. BUT there is such thing as customer service, keeping good will etc etc... their marketing is all word of mouth.

I agree that they dont owe us anything, but it also costs them pennies to give supercharger access (hopefully more than 6 months), and to give premium connectivity. So its a win-win. Customers win and they win. They get to keep majority of 3k, but give close to that in value (but costing them significantly less). Like a baker's dozen. There is a reason they give you an extra one. Good customer service, to you its an extra 10% of donuts, to them its 2 cents of materials for that donut. win-win.

Also Im tired of people saying "go to any other dealership and see if they would give you a refund".... folks... when we ask for Tesla to do things how other dealerships do it we immediatelly get "they arent a delaership."... when we ask them to do other things, people say "would other dealerships do that?".... come on folks... pick one or the other. They are either a dalership or they arent. Stop being fanboys and start caring more for your fellow community members than an insanely rich corporation with CEO that just passed Warren Buffet in billion count. It is because of us he is super rich, he could throw us a bone....

again... he doesnt have to... but it would have been nice.

Well said. My delivery specialist replied back to email and told me to go return the car that’s it. He is not as helpful as he was during the ordering process LOL
“To take part in the latest pricing, you must return your vehicle before 07/16/2020 to your local service center, Costa Mesa.

Please note, you will not be eligible to order the same trim within 12 months if you return your car.

For additional help, please contact your local service center.”

I wonder if there’s better person/email I can contact to

let us know if you make any progress...

I inquired about the price drop, and received an email back today stating that we are eligible and to confirm that we understand that our order will be moved to the latest pricing and options on Tesla.com. This update cannot be reversed. So I went onto Tesla.com and priced our car, and the base price changed to $60,990 vs our current cost of $60,500. So it was a $490 price increase for us. No savings there!

how is that possible? whats your build?

i regret being so easy with Tesla. I should have just rejected my delivery as there were imperfections. If I had just been more picky I would have saved $3k. I took delivery on June 14. They did the price drop 28 days later. I could have easily just refused delivery and should have. guess that is what I get for being an easy consumer.

Always. Understanding people always gets short end of the stick. If I kept my original pick up date which was July 11th I could’ve asked them to adjust pricing. I was just too excited they let me pick up two days before (9th) went ahead and got the car.

I picked up mine on July 9th and two days after they dropped $3000. I emailed them as well, as much as $3000 is not a big deal I still think its unfair. I hope to get reimbursed ($3000) or at least get some free supercharger miles
@Y_NOT - I'm similar to you, as I picked mine up on July 8th. We're still in the 7-day period where we could return our cars and get our money back, so I'd think Telsa would be motivated to help us. BTW, the base price went down by $3,000, but FSD went up by $1,000, so if you got FSD, the equivalent car now is $2,000 less, not $3,000.

@Flyguy3 - how did you contact Tesla? The most difficult part of this is that it is next to impossible to reach anyone over the phone. Do you have an email for them that they respond to? I was able to chat with someone online, who was not helpful, but said I should call the Fremont Delivery Center where I picked up my car and gave me the number. No one answers at the number, forcing one to leave a message. I doubt they will return my call.

Where is there info about this 2 additional years of premium connectivity? My Model Y (picked up on Wed, July 8) says it only has 1 year of premium connectivity.

I checked my online Tesla account. It says my premium connectivity expires July 9, 2021. So I don't see anything about two additional years of premium connectivity.

There is no two years. The OP suggested it as one way to placate those who feel they've been burned.

Long story short, at the moment there is no resource nor olive branch to anyone who has taken delivery more than 7 days ago.

This was the original posters suggestion for those people who fall outside the return date of the car. It's not something Tesla is actually doing or will do.

Yea i didnt get FSD so my savings wouldve been $3000. less than 48 hours of picking up the car they drop the price lol Called tesla costa mesa where I picked up my MY, they said there’s nothing they can do but help me with returning process so yea...
