Price Drop: Impact on existing order?

48a is the lower charger size these days. I don't see charger size listed on the 75 at all. I'm assuming its 48a and they didn't drop it to 40a?

You're correct. 48A/12kw is the standard onboard charger since the refresh. Only the pre-refresh/classic models have a 40A/10kw charger standard. Dual chargers on the classic models for 80A/20kw are an optional upgrade for $2K.

The higher amperage charger option on the refreshed models was an option for 1.5K for 72A/17kw, but is now only standard on the 100D/P100D models.

They are telling me that I have to pay $500 fee to change the order. This is upsetting since th change is only software and my car is not scheduled for delivery until end of June anyway

I take it that your car is past the 7-day order chance grace period, but not yet produced. As bigdaddyo811 was wisely stating, Your Mileage May Vary - push them for the change, but if given the chance to pay 500$/€ to get a "new 70" with the powered liftgate and glass roof, damn, I'd take it - in My and bigdaddyo811's case, the car is already produced and on it's way to delivery.

Best of luck

Software or not, it's a change and that's been their policy from the start. It all takes time to process and deal with from their side. Push gently/politely. But if your not successful, your not getting a bad deal for $500. Others very recently paid much more. Try to be happy either way.

Just got confirmation that my order which already had the high amperage chargers on it and was confirmed prior to the change will now be lowered by $1500. If I hadn't already ordered with the charger upgrade I don't think I could have added it for free. Hope that helps anyone in the same scenario. Order was for a P100D.

Confirmed: the spec on My Tesla has been updated. It looks the same as the original configuration, except there's a new line item for "Showroom Discount (3,500)", which effectively adjusts the price to what it would be if I had ordered the same car today.

Have to say, I'm impressed that Tesla did the right thing for me without having to be persuaded to, and followed through quickly. Wouldn't have asked for more. Well done.

So just heard back from my DS after 2 days of waiting (already getting suspensions of incompetence but that's another story). Even though my order confirmed hours (literally) before the price drop he is requiring a $500 change order fee to upgrade. Obviously I am pushing back a bit because that's a little ridiculous for a company that relies on word of mouth sales to be that unforgiving.

same experience here, I am unhappy paying the $500 change fee, hopefully Tesla will make exceptions

Ran it up the chain of command as far as I could; Could not get them to budge on the $500, all saying no exceptions so I bit the bullet to changed the order. Good news though delivery is expected 3rd week of May, so 6 weeks from order placement to delivery.

Just got an email from my OA that the price will not drop to the new pricing and I will have to pay the $1500 for the charger upgrade. Kinda frustrating. Curious what others are seeing that originally were given a break on the pricing.

I confirmed with my delivery specialist twice that my price will be reduced by $3000 since the glass roof and dual amperage charger became standard. After a month now he told me that they made a mistake and P100D customers aren't included in the price reduction. My order locked three days prior to the announcement. Had I known this I could have forfeited my deposit of $2500 and reordered during the week prior to P100D price increase and still saved $500. Very frustrating that P100D owners are excluded from the price reduction. If I delayed my order by 3 more days I would have saved $3000.

You know I didn't even pick up on the fact that they are saying the P100D orders are the ones that won't get the price reduction. The P models already have the highest markup as it is, if anything they should continue to honor what they said on P models as there should be plenty of room to maintain margins. Frustrating......
