Thanks. Weird that the Google link went to a dead thread.
Are you still paying the original price?Look at the Tesla.com order page:
The cost of the car I ordered has risen by £2150 !!!!!!!!
Thanks for that - I hope so.They will honour the original price, as long as you don't modify the order.
As said above it always was in luxury car tax status.Crucially, this price rise has also taken the car into luxury tax status, meaning an extra cost. Not sure of the exact amount for tax, IIRC around £400?
I'm sure if you promise to not enjoy the luxury features, they will let you off the tax. HMRC are known for that helpful approach.I had no idea about this
Largely bought the car for environmental reasons at a bit of a stretch. Not for 'luxury'.
Really? In that case it's a shame this tax is DFT/DVLA and nothing to do with HMRCI'm sure if you promise to not enjoy the luxury features, they will let you off the tax. HMRC are known for that helpful approach.

It is kinda silly though. I mean this forum is likely to be biased I know, but the government is giving incentives to individuals (Plug In Grant, OLEV grant) and businesses (No BIK liability for charging at work, incentives to fit chargers etc), and then they have this luxury car tax applying to EVs too.
Granted no one needs a Tesla over a cheaper EV, but still. Smaller, cheaper EVs might not have the range or storage capacity etc.
