What you paid for itWith the price changes, what does the P11D figure work out to be for tax purposes. Do people pay tax on the price of vehicle paid or what HMRC have for the RRP in their records?
£2k locks in your spec and price

I wonder how many people with orders will cancel if the price they ordered at gets pushed up? It will certainly make me think. Are you certain about this?
I ordered in mid May and my Order Agreement price has changed several times since.
I emailed the GB Delivery Team to ask for my original price to be reinstated and, after at first agreeing, on being chased to actually do this they replied last week:
“...Looking at the most up to date invoice, this is the same as if you were to build a new Model 3 online- therefore being the correct price...”
Since I ordered the Wrong Kind Of Wheels (19”) there might be quite a few price changes still to come

I disagree. The P11D value is based on the Manufactures list price for the vehicle including factory fitted options, VAT and delivery charge. For most manufactures the list price stays fairly static but there are constant dealer discounts which would not affect the P11D value. Tesla on the other hand has no dealers but changes the list price constantly. What you paid for it

So the question for me is. is the P11D price the list price when you ordered or the list price on the day of purchase. I am guessing the latter and if you paid a lower price due to ordering when the price was lower this would be considered a discount. I don't think HMRC has any concept of or interest in things like order date. I suspect it is all based on list price on date of first registration.
So for those with a Model 3 P+ on order who have just seen the list price of their car go up by a couple of grand. Even it Tesla honour the order price I would not be surprised if the P11d value reflects the higher price.
Given that the BIK is going to be very low for the next few years hopefully that will not matter much but will be interesting if the SR+ price ever dips below the £40K luxury car value prompting a load of orders but then is raised again before collection. You could find yourself paying it even though you ordered at a price where it was not applicable..........
I know. that is exactly what I said.Tesla is the Manufacturer and dealer, they are not offering 'discounts' on the list price, they are changing the list prices.

In reality the P11D value is whatever your employer puts on the P11D though it could get challenged. As to what they should be putting on it list price at date or order or registration I can't see that specified. You could definitely argue it should be at the point of ordering in the absence of any contrary guidance..
For the luxury car tax I assume the list price would be derived from what Tesla put down as the list price as part of the first registration process. So in my highly theoretical price drop then rise again situation it would be entirely in Teslas hands or maybe even the actual individual who does the registration..... Fairly academic though for the time being.
That's exactly my car! I've heard naff all so far (except having a source code vin), let's see if you get your first!Luckily I placed my order for an M3 SR+ Red/Black, no other options, on Tuesday this week. Comparing the new prices the equivalent car is now £2,250 more.
I’m hoping the P11D value stays as confirmed in the order confirmation, not that it makes much difference for 2020/21 with the BIK at 0%.
I’m starting to understand the wacky world of sourcing a Tesla!!!!

Personally I reckon you’re overthinking it. I’m pretty certain it’s all down to the weaker pound.I was thinking - and this may already be mentioned previously so apologies if i'm repeating - but could this be a conscious decision made to stem demand having seen the problems they are having meeting orders and the delivery issues?
Maybe they're thinking if demand can be curbed a little over the next month or two they can sort out the logistical issues for the backlog and then put the prices back to more 'affordable' levels (i use that term VERY loosely ).
Maybe that's just me being wishful in the hope that they drop the prices again so that my M3P plan can be back on track...
When did you order yours Epico? Mines a business lease car through Octopus so it will be interesting to see what the delivery time turns out to be.That's exactly my car! I've heard naff all so far (except having a source code vin), let's see if you get your first!
