Priority for current owners with new reservations

Hey everyone, I was wondering if I my Dad, who currently owns an S, would be moved up in the Model 3 priority que for our region if he pre-ordered tonight. I know Elon said that previous owners would be prioritized first, but I wasn't sure if that changed since it has been some time since he last said that.

ALSO, how in the world do I change my profile picture? :D Thank you

You obviously need to ask Tesla. I think they will give you a positive answer.

Yes, according to Tesla, your dada would still get moved up in the queue. No one knows by how much though, I certainly wouldn't expect he'd get moved to the front, but maybe in front of anyone else from the last month or so maybe. No one really knows for sure though and I'd be surprised if even Tesla would, or even could, give you a definite answer.

When I talked to my DS he wasn't even sure. They only know the information that came out before the unveiling and what Musk has said on Twitter. He said he assumed it still applied, but isn't sure how much it would move me up for my region, but still was unsure. Thanks for the response!

Asked my DS that I know and he doesn't know. Tesla hasn't communicated this to them clearly for a question like this.
They may be called delivery specialists but are car salesmen by any other name. Just like car salesmen, their level of knowledge ranges from totally clueless to very knowledgeable. If you call around the company you will eventually find someone knowledgeable and I think you will get a positive response. As for asking here, this is just a fanboy forum. Once in a while we are visited by Tesla staff but seldom.

I would disagree with that. The DS didn't know the answer because he, like the rest of us, has not been told by Tesla. So calling around to other stores won't find you anyone with more knowledge, it might find you someone a bit more willing to speculate, but not with any more actual knowledge.

Well, thanks for the correction. I obviously have been lied to by multiple employees at both the Tempe nondealership and the corporate office. Obviously I should have checked with this forum before purchasing my Model S.

Since I'm not sure what you're talking about, I'll just say that I'm only referring to anything they say about the model 3. It's been said by multiple people in multiple places here that the employees at the showrooms do not know any more about the model 3 than the general public. So I disagreed with your suggestion that the OP could call around and find a less clueless person regarding the question he had asked.

You took the time to post that you disagree with me and now say you don't know what I'm talking about. The question was about the Model 3 priority list and I was told by multiple Tesla employees at the showroom/service center and at Corporate that my Model S purchase in December 2016 moved me ahead of non-owners. Since I reserved a Model 3 on March 31 early in the day, it probably doesn't matter much to my purchase. But I hope the OP will ask additional Tesla employees until a knowledgeable employee is located. They exist even if you are convinced they don't.

exact quote from my DS "
As for your question about reserving a Model 3, you can do that at any point after you take delivery of your Model S and your account will be highlighted in our system as a current Tesla owner allowing you to be prioritized ahead of the general public."
