Pro tip: you CAN pay partly with credit card!

So as I was picking up my car this weekend, when I was making my payment I was joking with the delivery specialist about all the points I could get on my credit card if Tesla would just let me pay that way. Then the DS said they just recently (as in Friday I think) decided to allow up to $10K to be paid by credit card - without any fees! So I then asked the DS if I could put $10K of it on the card and sure enough I was able to! I think this new policy is just through 9/30 it seems, so if you like CC points and are taking delivery this week, check it out!

How did your purchase code with the credit card company? My fear would be that it shows as cash advance...

I would interested in putting this on my sapphire reserve or amex plat, both have limits over $10k. But I guess it is only worth about 10,000 * 0.015 = $150, depending on how you value points. Worth the hassle?

Many cards have limits in cash advance like ~$500 or ~$2500 unless you've asked for it. So I'm thinking a $10k limit is a standard transaction. I will try this as well on my delivery this Friday....

Shows just like the initial reservation deposit does - standard transaction

I tried to do this on Saturday and was told I could not pay any part by credit card. Previously at the showroom, another person said I could pay $5000 online. I don’t think my delivery person knew what their own policy was however. In general, this seems to be a huge problem across Tesla. During the ordering process, I got different and often outright wrong information from customer support, depending on whom I had contacted on a given day. If I wasn’t a Tesla enthusiast, this sort of thing would have driven me away.
