Problem with sudden braking on I90 toll road

I was in driver assist mode driving in a 2016 Model S.
the toll road had lit electronic toll stations. On one, the car suddenly detected an impending collision (red car symbol in front of the braking Tesla symbol) and went into a hard brake. I was amazed at the brightness of the light coming from the overhead toll cameras.
I wonder if that had been sensed as an impending head on collision?

fortunately, there were no cars behind me or they would have nailed me.

has this been reported before?
will it show up as an incident that Tesla can remotely review?

my foot was no where near the brake.

I'll let others answer for the specific case but on autopilot you should keep your right foot close to the accelerator. When this happens you can press it and the car will stop braking. Especially recommended when you pass in tighter spaces like a toll station.

I always shut AP off at tolls.
