Production (Non-Sig) Model X Vin #'s now being issued

Out of advice here I decided to call my delivery Specialist and see if my car had gone into production or not. Turns out it has!!! So I am looking at 6 weeks maybe sooner? I have no idea what to do with myself! So excited!! Non Sig Vin 37*. Fully loaded with 6 seats and ludicrous mode black on black. I got on the list in Feb 2013. It will be three years wait by the time I get the car. It will mark the first time I will ever have bought a car without driving it. LOL! I did have someone drive me in it at the model X reveal party but it was late and It all feels like a dream now... Can't wait to experience that Ludicrous mode with me in the drivers seat!!!

I find this more than a little annoying if true. I took the bait to go for a P90DL with the hopes of getting earlier delivery, but didn't think my non-premium interior choices would matter since there was no indication in the design studio that these would cause delays.
I think at this point, we're all just speculating, based on a really small sample of data. As others have said, get the car you want and take it when it comes. I couldn't justify the "P" and wanted the extra range of the non-P but I really did want all the rest of the features so that's how I configured ours and I knew it would mean I'd be waiting a little longer than if I had gone with a P90D.

Buying extra features just for the *possibility* of getting the car delivered sooner probably isn't the best move in the long term. But, that said, if you do want to load yours up, reach out to your DS (if you have one yet) or contact NA Sales and see if adding leather seats or the PUP will bump you up at all. It doesn't hurt to ask. Of course, asking doesn't mean you're going to get a comprehensive and accurate answer... We know how Tesla is.

As long as your car is not in production yet (but you have confirmed), you can make changes to your configuration for $500 per occasion. If you're actually adding features, I'd imagine you could request that they waive the change fee.

But I think we need more data before we can really determine what causes certain orders to be expedited sooner than others.

I don't quite believe what I just saw on modelxtracker.com, but someone in SanDiego lists that they have an order confirmed for a 90D (not sig, and not P90D) res# 15310 who completed DS on 1/11/16, had a VIN assigned today and is in production with ETA delivery 2/15/16. Is this at all possible? In modelxtracker data export, he/she lists no options to gauge how they have a VIN and ETA of delivery...Is this possible? I have my doubts....
Seems really unlikely. Most likely user error. Or FOM (friend of Musk!).

that San Diego one at bottom shows standard equipment. Maybe there data entry goof, but what if.....

FWIW, Production reservation number 15310 is user "hotrod" on the forum. He has only posted a couple of times, but maybe a PM would be in order to clarify?

This is based on what we've seen as far as where VINs are assigned, etc so it's not definite, but based on sufficient data to draw conclusions.

If you think about the L vs non-L difference (the active pyro fuse vs. a standard fuse) compared to the premium interior package differences it's clear that from a line efficiency perspective they are better off batching P + Premium interior with L/non-L as just a side note on any given car.

That said, the early speculation was that they would run P90DL first because it was the most profitable (I guarantee that fuse doesn't cost 10K), but they may not have had enough L orders at a time to run an efficient line with L-only orders... Though I do not doubt that if things get close to a quarter boundary that they'll prioritize *delivery* of the L models over deliver of the non-L models...

Come to think of it, were any of the 208 deliveries that happened in 2015 NOT ludicrous but insane only?

For those who's Model X are currently in or finished production, did you see an update on My Tesla dashboard? In other words, is the Tesla website accurate in updates on the status of the order beyond just "confirmed"?

Nope. I know from a conversation with my sales rep yesterday that my X is "done" (i.e. no longer on the line, but presumably getting whatever final manual tweaks are needed) but my MyTesla page hasn't changed since the VIN appeared around 12/23/2015.

Nice. Just out of curiosity when did you put your deposit down? I'm wondering if they are still giving preference to the waitlist. I confirmed around the same time and no VIN. Plus, didn't they say expect X90 mid-year?

Still seems screwy to put deposit down today, reservation number in the 15000 range, whereas I put my deposit down April 2015 and have a higher reservation number in 16000 range. Maybe he reserved in 2014, opened up to DS this month and so on and so on...
I don't know how lower reservation numbers could exist if ordering after the higher number reservations, D or P or otherwise. Don't reservation numbers come in date of deposit order?
In the long run, we're all trying to make sense of some piece of information we have to look at to place ourselves in that list of delivery schedules. The only thing we are all seeing is Founders first, Signatures second, Performance third (Ludicrous first, then insane only), then production 90's, then production 70's.
