Production X Configuration Has Begun!

Why wouldn`t Tesla invite everyone to configure? Locking down sales and planning production etc. is great reasons to let everyone configure immediately.
It`s actually a strange move not to let everyone configure :)
I think it's an attempt to give some priority to people who reserved earlier as once you configure / order / confirm that should set your build order. We've heard somewhat conflicting information here, but that's at least my guess on why they are doing the delayed configuration invites.

I think that was their intent back when they stated so but I am guessing the impact to the Design Specialists in answering configuration questions (due to the lack of published information) and their role in getting the Sigs delivered was overwhelming them. So maybe in a few weeks when the Sigs are all delivered the DS's can get back to helping with orders and the flood gates will open again.

Not unique at all during the holiday break between Christmas and New Years. While the Tesla Motors delivery specialists and advisors are working, there may be others who are taking a much needed break. Even if not, consider some buyers who take vacation time and might not be as willing to spend time to configure their vehicles while away from home. IMHO, any pause would allow customers to continue the process in order after the new year.

My theory is that a decent number of invites are waiting to configure until they see an X in person. I think Tesla slowed down the invites so that people waiting to see one in person don't fall too far back in the configuration line. Which would be a nice thing to do since the early reservation holders have been on the list for years. I'm sure Tesla has enough P90D's confirmed to keep them busy without inviting more people. Hopefully after January 1st, Tesla starts sending out X's to showrooms so that people can see it in person before configuring. At that point, Tesla can go back to inviting 2.5 to 5k each week to until all of the invites have gone out.

Invited today #11918.

Still deciding between X & S. After configuring both 90D cars with the same options, looks like 10,334.00 difference for me (this includes state tax) I did not include the Smart Air Suspension on the S but we all know it's included on the X 90D & P90D so technically you would need to subtract that out of the difference to make them the same. I just configured it the way I would order either one.

One thing that sticks out to me is the lack of middle seat armrests on the six seater option. How comfortable are the people in the middle seats when making a sharp turn?

Also says Early 2016 delivery which means March/April at best guess for soonest.

Many of the Sig's are talking about staging a bunch of "show and tell" events around the country early next year, before the showroom models appear. @andrewket has graciously offered to coordinate the effort. Stay tuned.
