PROTECT YOUR CAR FROM RODENTS CHEWING WIRES

PROTECT YOUR CAR FROM RODENTS CHEWING WIRES

Many people who own cars aren’t aware that rodents such as rats and mice can wreak havoc in their car’s engine. They remain blissfully ignorant UNTIL they discover evidence that a rodent has moved in.
Rodent nests and fecal material are a dead give-away that a rodent has decided that your car engine is their “Dream Nest.” Which, besides the gross-out factor of droppings in your engine and the interior of your car, can lead to some shocking repair bills from your mechanic once they start chewing the wiring in your car.
Rodents regularly chew through horn, fog light, and coolant temp sensor wires, oil level sensor wires, the wires for the active front power steering rack, and a myriad of other wires that serve as the communication system between parts in your automobile. When these communication lines are frayed or severed, your car becomes less predictable and even downright dangerous to drive.
Think about how reliant you are on your car to function smoothly and safely: on a daily basis you trust it with yours and your loved ones’ lives. Wouldn’t you like to have the peace of mind that comes with meeting the problem of rodent damage head on with an effective solution?

DETERRENCE IS THE BEST WAY TO PROTECT YOUR CAR’S WIRING

Here at The Grid Guard, we believe in solutions that ward off the problem BEFORE it starts, and are committed to providing the most humane method of keeping rodents out of your car engine. We are proud that our perimeter floor mats of electrical tiling enable you to keep these critters completely away from your car’s engine without harming them.
While rats and mice are often portrayed as dirty and dangerous, we wonder about products that purport to prevent rodent damage, but solve the problem by poisoning, maiming or killing the rodent. Since most people don’t like the idea of causing unnecessary suffering, we suspect the makers of these products present their victim as filthy and dangerous so that we are less likely to consider their suffeing. While we acknowledge that rats in particular have a long history of spreading disease by behaving the way nature built them to behave, we believe compassionate deterrence allows them to live as they were designed to without spreading disease to humans and chewing on auto wiring. With our electrical tiling you’ll have no need for poisons or traps!
Rats and mice are what is known as commensal rodents, which means “sharing one’s table.” They are omnivores like us and like to eat everything we do. When rats are kept as domesticated pets, keeping our human and their rodent food supplies separated is not a problem; the challenge comes when dealing with the rodents living outside your home. Rodents are abundant in urban and rural areas alike and when they spot a good living situation like your trash bin and your car, they may decide to move in and raise their families. Makes perfect sense, no?
Rodents entering your garage have no bond with you, and are not house-trained, so they won’t think twice about leaving a great many droppings as they go about their business. Their fecal leavings can transmit unwanted disease if not cleaned up properly, just as your dog or cat's droppings would do if left lying around the house. Compassionate deterrence keeps rodents discouraged from coming anywhere near our food supplies and our car engines, so that their fecal material never becomes an issue, and our car wiring remains intact.
And did you know that rodents can make excellent pets? Rats in particular are friendly, empathetic, and highly social animals, bonding with their owners and enjoying life-long friendships with them (the love affair is brief as their life spans are only 2-3 years). Far from being “dirty,” rats are extremely clean animals, grooming themselves more thoroughly and more often than even house cats do. Think about it: if our cats were getting into our engines and chewing wires, we would probably look for a solution that discouraged them from getting near our car, rather than resorting to poisoning them after they had gotten in and caused a mess!

WHY RODENTS WILL STAKE OUT YOUR CAR ENGINE

Left unprotected, your car engine is like prime developable land to rodents. Once rats have discovered how dark and secluded your engine is, and how safe it will keep them and their families from predators, they will move right in. Rats and mice see differently than we do, and rely a great deal on their whiskers and sensitive body hairs to navigate their way around (which is why they prefer to scuttle alongside a wall rather than head out into open, empty space). They also have an acute sense of smell, and can smell the trails and best routes laid out for them by previous rats (which is why you have to work to clean up surrounding rat trails when you are trying to oust them from your car).
Getting to and from your car to their various food sources is facilitated by the network of trails they will build along your garage walls, behind appliances and tools, and maintain by leaving traces of body oil and pheromones to guide successive rats to any food they find in your garage and the shelter of your car engine.
Once these trails are pointing the way to your car engine it is just a matter of time before your car wiring feels the effects of rodent’s teeth gnawing on them.

WHY RODENTS CHEW CAR WIRES

If rodents were content to simply set up camp in our car engines, we might not take the trouble to try and get rid of them – after all, our engine is under a nice hood that would hide the problem. But rodents are unique among mammals in that they have constantly growing teeth: these teeth must be ground against each other in order to stay sharp, but more importantly in order that they don’t grow so long that the animal can no longer eat and starves to death. Any rat or mouse who sets up house in your engine MUST chew on something in order to keep their teeth in good order, and the wires in your cars are close to hand and the perfect material.
There are numerous stories of rodent damage to car wiring precipitating costly auto repairs, but a new twist to this old story has developed with the advent of electric cars and the manufacturer restrictions on repair options in their warranties. Using the legal powers afforded by Intellectual property law, electric vehicle manufacturers are establishing repair environments that are closed systems – they retain the right to control who can make repairs on the vehicles they make. The result is repair bills that are markedly more expensive than the out in the open market system that conventional cars and your local automotive shop exist in. If you own an electric car, your rodent-chewed wiring could cost two to three times more to repair if your automaker has saddled you with restricted repair clauses in your warranty.
Electric car engines are markedly more inviting to rodents than conventional engines because they stay toasty warm while their batteries are charging, at a temperature rodents love for their nurseries and nests! Owners of electric cars must be particularly careful about deterring these intelligent animals from deciding they want to call your electric vehicle's engine their “Home, Sweet Home!”
We recently published an article detailing some of the more common DIY deterrent methods, but we feel these methods are inadequate, messy and time-consuming. So what is our solution?

THE GRIDGUARD STOPS RODENTS CHEWING YOUR CAR’S WIRES

We are proud distributors of The Grid Guard, an innovative electric tile system that humanely and effectively keeps rodents AWAY from your car.
Once installed, the GridGuard creates a mild electric fence around your car’s wheels that rodents detest. Rats and mice sense the electric tiles and refuse to cross them – tests show them refusing to go near them even when a tasty bait is placed on them.
The Grid Guard system’s long-lasting, low-maintenance barrier is the ultimate repellent and has a myriad of applications protecting automobiles, garages, outside parking, warehouses, data centers, factories, farms and much more.
Find out more about our innovative and easy to assemble rodent deterrent system and make the decision to rest easy, knowing your car is protected from the unwanted attentions of rodents.
Remember, rodents are highly social and intelligent animals – they make good pets, but are bad actors when it comes to your car engine. Keep them away from your car engine with The GridGuard and every human and rodent in and around your home will be the happier for it!

The Grid Guard is a long-lasting, low-maintenance system and is the first rat repellent for cars to use electricity or solar power, without killing or harming animals in the process.

I live in an apartment building with an old gravel parking lot, that is uneven in some places so I am not sure this product would work in my case.
It should work. Included are bridge clips that connect tiles together which help on uneven surfaces. If you can send photos that would help. [email protected]. If you add your phone number we can call you if you like and go over any other questions.

Is this issue exacerbated by soy based primary wire jacketing?
Tesla uses this type of wire jacketing?

Is that industry standard now from a quick google search?

Someone told me about this issue the other day, and curious to know if it's true.
