Whats the warranty time for yellowing from UV, and scratches from windshield wipers ? Thats the two big ones that stopped full scope adoption in the past. Has technology improved ?

Yup, the technology in the past was good for about a year or less with the scratches being evident or fading and it was like $600-800 to install. Unless you broke two windshields a year it was cost prohibitive.

Also heard people in Nevada needed it but man the sand would scratch the hell outta the windshield with the wipers

I installed the little rear window Clearplex piece a few weeks ago. Super-easy DIY if you've ever installed film. Less than 5mins each little window, since you have to clean it first.

There's no way for me to know if it'll work, without hitting it with a bat, but I assume so.

Like others, I wonder how much the Clearplex windshield piece would cost, installed, and how long it lasts.

Hi, the warranty on the issues you asked about is directly from the film manufacturer, Clearplex. The film has an 18 month manufacturers warranty against yellowing, delamination of the film layers, etc. The top coat is actually harder (more scratch resistant) than windshield glass. We recommend always using washer fluid when using your windshield wipers. All kits come with a bottle of ClearX fluid. We recommend installing this periodically onto the film. It is a hydrophobic wax that both helps the wipers glide over the surface as well as protects the top coat of the film from degradation.

"Has technology improved?" I don't know when you were involved with Clearplex, but they did have some issues with yellowing and film life in the beginning, especially in high heat areas. They have improved this since then. The actual lifespan of a windshield kit will depend a lot on where you live and how you drive. There are Porsches that were installed with Clearplex 6 or 7 years ago at the Porsche parade still using their first film installation, but they're weekend drivers, kept in a garage between drives. On the other end of the extreme, our President/CEO replaces his windshield film every 12 months, because he drives 40k miles a year throughout the Western states. We advertise to expect 15k miles, or about 18 months for a daily driver.

We don't set the price an installer would charge for it to be installed, we only set the price we sell it to the installer (tint shop, PPF shop, etc). We are seeing that what is typical for one of our kits to be installed is around $500 to $600, depending on vehicle model, location, and the shop doing the install.

ROI of course depends on the vehicle. For example, a 2005 Camry Windshield might be about $400 replacement cost, that probably doesn't make sense. We'd be happy to sell a kit on it, but it probably isn't going to happen!

A decade ago, the only really expensive windshields were on cars like McClarens and other super cars. But with ADAS, windshield replacement costs are increasing for all vehicles. AAA did a study and found that the average replacement cost on a vehicle with ADAS was $1300 to $1600 if you use OEM glass.

Our product can be installed by anybody who already installs film: PPF installer, tint installer, etc. So if you have an existing detailer that you work with, I would recommend talking to them about installing this for you. They can order directly from our website and it will arrive in a few days to their shop.

Otherwise, I would be happy to direct message you a list of shops in your area (DFW?) that we already work with. We are working on a "find a vendor near you" function on our website, but it isn't ready yet.
