PSA: Can confirm AP does not detect deer

To put this claim to rest, AP at this moment does not detect deer. A deer ran across the highway and it did not detect or deter. ( I didn’t think it would) luckily it was a young deer and damage is relatively muted.

Yup everyone was fine, it was a baby deer we are very lucky.

V9. Believe it or not we were going 60, luckily it was younger deer and off to the right side of the car.

To be clear, I did not think it would. I had seen people wondering if AP would stop for a person or other object crossing the road. Just wanted to provide the info to the community. I’m sure in the future it will be able to avoid it.

Note that it does detect and react to pedestrians in some / many cases. especially at speeds 25mph and below. But don't test that either, it's not reliable enough right now to be depended on.

I actually bow hunt so it’s always good to see them on the move but not in front of the car! Haha

At 60 mph Autopilot can’t reliably see stopped cars either.

It isn't can't reliably see them at 30 MPH according to the vehicle display (lots of stop cars in adjacent lane are invisible).

Can confirm it doesn't detect a single or multiple adult deer either Tis a frequent hazard in my daily ride.
