I am having a frustrating experience recouping my Tesla Model 3 refund (I submitted my refund request back at the beginning of July). In the past 3 weeks, I have called 3 times, including being escalated to a supervisor. Here is the chronology of our correspondence so far.
First call: The representative told me that on their end it was showing the money had been deposited to my bank 3 days after I requested the refund. I immediately logged in to my bank while I still had the representative on the phone and confirmed that was not the case. He then told me he would open a ticket for someone to "look into it" and get back to me in 5-8 business days.
Second call (10 days later): I asked what the resolution had been and got the same story that on their end it was showing it was refunded, but they are still looking into it. I then insisted that this was unacceptable, and I needed my $1,000 back, and the representative promised to look into it herself and then call me back. She did call me back and left a message saying a check for my refund was in the mail for me and would arrive in 15-30 business days, because they "just can't be sure with the postal service."
Third call (5 days later): I called to check on the status of my refund, and the representative mentioned they were still looking into it. The representative had no record of a planned refund via check, with confirmed by suspicion when I got that call back at the end of the second call. I asked to talk to a supervisor. I asked the supervisor whether it was still showing on their end that the amount had been refunded to my bank. The supervisor said, "yes." I then asked the supervisor how it was then that last time I called I was told that a check had been issued with a refund (clearly they're not going to issue a refund check if they truly think they paid me). I explained to the supervisor that this all seemed like a very intentional ploy to delay paying (or not pay) me. He said he would personally look into it and would hopefully call me within the next hour but definitely by the end of the day. No call back.
Tesla customer service e-mail thread: Meanwhile I had a thread going with Tesla customer service. Here is the last response I got after all of the above calls:
Hello,
Thank you for contacting Tesla Support. You have recently reached out to us for an update on a requested cancellation for your Tesla car order. Please confirm that you had requested the cancellation but have not yet received the promised refund for the below order, along with providing your name and mailing address:
Order Number:
Name and Address (If necessary, a check will be mailed to this address within 30-60 business days):
Best,

At this point I am convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt that this is an intentional fraudulent scheme to delay paying out my refund for as long as possible (or not pay at all).
Has anyone had a similar experience?
